Question 1: Discuss the implications of the scientific issue identified in the articles? [ marks] Draw a wide range of links to and between ethical/social/economic/environmental implications. implications can be negative or positive. link all the implications together to achieve higher band marks. do two implications from each category. make sure to pick out implications from all three articles and talk about them. Question 2: Identify the different organisations/ individuals mentioned in the articles and suggest how they may have an influence on the scientific issue? [6 marks] mention individuals or organisations that are in all three articles. three individuals and three organisations. always mention what influence they have in good detail. new paragraph for each individual/organisation. Question 3: Discuss whether article three has made valid judgement? [12 marks] how the article has interpreted and analysed the scientific information to support the conclusions/ judgements made. the reliability of the data and references. what are the judgements made by the article. define what validity and reliability is do you think the article is valid is there bias

is it optimistic is the paper referenced throughout, how old are the references. are they from same person or different. evaluate the graphs and tables, qualitative and quantitative.

Question 4: Suggest Potential areas for further development and/or research of the scientific issue from the three articles. [5 marks] always use evidence from all articles as well as own research to support the decisions for improvement. How to move the technology forward Are the developments targeted at a particular need? Does it have impact or status? Does it have a potential for wide use? if you suggest an improvement, consider whether it has a potential to help more people or it can bring economical benefits as well that would be of great help. Questions to ask yourself whilst doing q4: What do we need to improve? what can we do to eradicate/put an end to the problem? how easy will this be? Who benefits? In what way? Do we need to change the law in any way and how easy will this be? Organising your thoughts for q4: Understanding the issue better do we need to understand what the cause is, better? have we identified the causes of the issues? Further research Be specific
