Assignment Description

Prepare your answers for following three scenarios: Website standards In this part of the assignment, the student must demonstrate their understanding of common website issues and standards by answering the following topics: 1. Explain the need for web standards and provide real world examples. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has provided a set of rules and guidelines that we suggest you do not ignore if you want to create a site[1].Web standards are defined as set of rules and regulations that web developers should in order to make sure the consistency, interoperability, and accessibility of the web is maintained. These standards are important because they enable developers to build the websites that can be easily available by anyone using any device or browser. The give below points are few instances of the need for web standards:

1. Cross-browser compatibility: Cross-browser compatibility can

be defined as the ability of a website, application or

script to support various web browsers identically

[2].Web standards make sure that websites are accessible and functional across different browsers and devices. For instance , if a website is made using non-standard HTML or CSS code, it may only work with no error on a specific browser or device, leaving out other users who are unable to access it. 2. Accessibility: Web standards make sure that websites are easily searchable to people who have disabilities also to those who use screen readers or other assistive technologies. For instance, standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) gives standard for creating web content available to people with disabilities. 3. Search engine optimization: Web standards makes certain that websites can be easily indexed and ranked by search engines. For example, using semantic HTML tags assists search engines in understanding the various structure and content of a web page. 4. Consistency: Web standards assists in making sure that websites are consistent in design and functionality which helps in making them much easier for users to use and navigate. For instance, using a uniform navigation structure through all pages of a website makes convenient for users for users to find the information they want. 5. Future-proofing: Web standards ensure that websites are made using cutting edge technologies and practices that can resist future changes. For instance, using responsive design techniques ensures that websites is adaptable to different screen sizes and resolutions, ensuring that they remain fresh and accessible in near future 6. Achieve a more stable Web:With the arrival of new hardware like mobile phones and hand-held devices, coding 100% compatible Web applications will only get harder, if not simply impossible.

website. C. Strong Visual Hierarchy: Visual Hierarchy in web design is one of the most important principles behind effective websites. Developing a visual hierarchy in design is crucial for a successful user experience, In this Article, we will cover the theory behind it and go over basic exercises to put these principles into practise[7] D use of colour and typography: The role of typography in web design goes far beyond the simple selection of fonts. Choosing the right typeface will make your text more readable, improve its perceived credibility and visual appeal, increase conversions, and boost your sales[8] E Load Time: Visitors expect websites to load quickly in today's fast-paced internet environment. A well-designed website should be maximized for performance by compressing images, minimising code, and utilising caching.

  1. Discuss the role of cascading Style Sheets-CSS in the development of website. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a standard (or language) that describes the formatting of markup language pages .[9] CSS accomplishes this separation by defining style rules that govern the layout, fonts, colours, and other visual aspects of a web page. These style rules are stored in a separate CSS file or within the HTML content itself, making them easy to alter and apply to multiple pages. The use of CSS in website construction has a number of advantages, including.

a. Improved Web page performance: Reduces the amount of code needed to render a web page, resulting in faster load times and higher performance.

b. Greater Design Flexibility: CSS allows developers to create more complex and sophisticated page layouts while also ensuring consistent design across a website.

c. Improved Accessibility: "Both Hypertext Markup

Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets

(CSS) affect a website’s accessibility. Working

together, they offer powerful tools to increase

a website’s accessibility, search engine

optimization (SEO), and overall user

experience. We’ll explore some of the ways

these languages improve or destroy your

website’s accessibility. ." [10].

Finally, CSS is vital in website development since it allows developers to create visually appealing, functional, and accessible websites.
