[mis en scene – rain and weather used to portray how Pi felt meaningless]

4) “By the end of that day I was Pi Patel, school legend.”

Close on Pi writing digits. Pull back - the entire chalkboard is filled with

numbers. All that are watching are stunned.

[panning shot – used to follow the entire board filled with the infinite values of Pi]

“Things changed after the day of Appa’s lesson, the world has lost some of its enchantment.”

[mis en scene – rain and weather used to portray how Pi felt meaningless]

[narration – uses imagery to illustrate how Pi feels after Appa’s lesson]

5) “Her parents cut her off because they thought she was marrying someone beneath her. Her

religion was the only link she had to her past.”

[soft focus & lighting – used to express Pi’s mother’s sadness & religion is warm light]

“When you look into his eyes, you are seeing your own emotions reflected back at you
