What are the endogenous factors that help to shape the character of Enfield Town? Endogenous Factors that originate from within the place. The starting points of a place. (The physical and human features that distinguish it from another place)

ENFIELD

Location site- where a place is – can directly influence the character of a place e. a seaside town or a port. Large town in north London Topography the shape of the landscape – can also affect other factors that give the place character e. flat places may be more suitable for large scale arable farming Physical geography The environmental features – altitude, aspect, soil and rock type – direct influence on character e. houses built from local rocks. OR it influences other factors e. an areas rich in natural resources may be characterised by associated industries e. a mining town. farmland – Land use Any human activity that occurs on the land e. farming, industry, residential etc. – one of the most important factors directly defining a place e. if a rural location main land use may be farming. Residential areas include... The town centre is dominated by retail... Infrastructure Infrastructure includes communications such as roads, railways, canals, airports. Communications such as broadband and phone networks Services such as water supply, sewers and electrical grids. Provision of parks, public pools, schools, hospitals, libraries Soft infrastructure included the local education system, health care provision, local govt. and law enforcement, emergency services. Infrastructure may affect different people and groups – gender, age, level of education and employment, ethnic group, length of residence. Enfield has excellent transport links.. alongside A110.
