Maintenance of muscoskeletal, neurologic, and cardiovascular function

> Chewable tabs increase bioavailibility

> IV blous should be 0 to 2mL/min

> Warm IV infusions

> Glucocorticoids; reduces absorption of calcium

> Thiazide diuretics; increased risk of ypercalcemia

>Digoxin

> Hypercalcemia > Renal calculi > Kidney disease > Decreased GI function

> Hypercalcemia -Fatigue, tachycardia, HTN, muscle weakness, N/V

> Reduction risk for osteoporosis > Postmenoposal > Hypocalcemia > Deficiences of parathyroid hormone

> Monitor calcium levels

> Blood calcium within expected range; 9-10 mg/dL

> Take supplement with 8ox water

> Take 1hr apart when taking glucocorticoids and tetracyclines
