Introduction Campbellsville, Kentucky, is located in the heart of Kentucky and has a population of approximately 12,000. This community was founded in 1817 and was named after Andrew and Adam Campbell, who were early settlers who found it. Campbellsville became the seat of Taylor County in 1848 after it separated from Green County. The area was named after Mexican war hero Zachary Taylor who later became the 12th president of the United States. The community had an original market of livestock, crops, and many other agricultural things. The city now has much more industrial industry. Tourism also boosts the economy here since Green River Lake is within the county lines.

Demographics

Population The population in Campbellsville is 11,482 people, and interestingly the population is split between 50% male and 50% female. The median resident age here is about 32 years old, slightly younger than the median age for the rest of Kentucky. About 391 residents in this city were born in other countries; 1% are from Latin America and 0 percent from Europe.

Politics Campbellsville’s political environment is comprised mainly of conservatives. The community primarily votes Republican in most Presidential and general elections. We have a city council with 13 members that meet on the 3rd Monday of each month and have full voting rights. The government itself has a total of 120 people working full time. The governments spending current operation is housing and community development, they are spending approximately $2,884, dollars on that area. There are areas that they are spending more on other aspects such as waste management and Highway maintenance both costing the government over 600,000 dollars. The government also takes a pretty good amount in taxes, in 2019 they gathered an estimated total of 2,590,000 dollars in taxes.

School Systems There are two K-12 school systems, Campbellsville Independent Schools for those in city lines and Taylor County School District for those outside the city lines but still within the county lines. Taylor County High school was the school for the white students in the community during the segregation times, 1880-1954. The Campbellsville Independent School District was first called Durham School; it was for all black students during that time. There is a University in this community, and it is now called Campbellsville University. The university in the city was founded in 1906 by the Russell Creek Baptist Association. It was initially called Russell Creek academy until it became a junior college in 1924 and then was finally accredited as a full-blown college in 1996.

Conclusion In conclusion, the town of Campbellsville, in Taylor county Kentucky, is a small unassuming country town. The vast majority of the population’s political beliefs are conservative in nature, and people tend to vote for Republican candidates. The city has a relatively strong economy with a large agricultural and industrial industry. Since it is located in the bible belt there are quite a few churches and religious beliefs held in this small community. They have two public school systems and one private university and most of the population at least has high school education. Campbellsville Kentucky is a small community where anyonecan come and feel like part of the family.
