Heba Labanieh Professor Kilzer English 100C 10 November 2020 Rhetorical Analysis Essay Rough Draft Immigration is leaving one’s country for another country for the purpose of maybe war, family, vacation, or job. The authors talked about how the Government should not be so uptight and harsh on immigrants because they have every right to want to immigrate out of their country. Legal Immigration can be difficult because it takes a long time. However, illegal immigration takes less time; but on the other hand, it is very risky and dangerous. <How Immigrants Become Others= is an article written by Marcelo Suarez Orozco and Carola Suarez Orozco. This article is mostly directed to society and the government because they make immigration hard and difficult for immigrants. Most immigrants have immigrated because of war or a job outside or to see a family. In this article, the author uses emotions and sympathy in his article, as well as facts, and the ideals of the immigrations and immigrants. The origin of pathos logos and ethos are made by the Greek philosopher Aristotle. Emotions and sympathy are pathos, facts are logos, and ideals and beliefs are ethos.

Pathos is a Greek word that means suffering or experience. Artistotle writes that pathos means the awakening of people’s emotions to make their opinions sway to the speaker. In this article, the authors talk about <include anxiety, frequent crying, changes in eating and sleeping patterns, withdrawal, and anger.= (Suarez Orozco 671). Moreover, the immigrants will face prejudice in a lot of assimilation situations, which leads them to feel like they do not belong

somewhere, or it goes against the foundations of the myth of melting pot. The children of the immigrants who get caught by illegal immigration will become anxious, depressed, hurt, and their lives will turn upside down. <Mathew spoke on behalf of thousands of children of migrant families. His steady voice was riveting: <I am here to tell you about my fears growing up in Arizona. Children want to be with their parents because we know that our parents love us. The laws in Arizona are just unjust and make me fear for my family. I am always worried when my family leaves the house that something might happen to them. I think about it when my dad goes to work that he might not come back or when I go to the school that there might not be someone to pick me up when I get out.= Mathew, one of the children of immigrants who immigrated illegally talked about his fears while growing up in Arizona. When kids are at a young age, of course, they would want to be with their parents, have fun with them, play, and much more. However, children of illegal immigrants do not get that. The rules and laws in Arizona are much stricter and harsh. Mathew always feared for his family when left the house that maybe something might happen to them. He always thought that his dad will never come back if he left for work. He also thought that if he is at school, no one will pick him up because his parents were taken.

Logos is an appeal that is persuasive or rhetorical to the audience’s rationality and logic. Some examples of that can be mostly found in persuasive arguments, argumentative writing, plus poetry and literature.<Mathew and Heidi are part of an estimated one hundred thousand citizen11 children whose parents have been deported. They face an impossible choice no child should have to make—staying in the United States with relatives or going with their parents to a country they do not know.= Mathew and Heidi who are children of immigrants who got caught

languages, cultural habits, and uncanny ways.= Immigrants get unfair competition when looking for jobs, as well as getting paid on wages. Immigration has become to be the globalization of its pathologies. Xenophobes see immigration, especially from Latin Americans, as training the American culture from getting new arrivals from the <brown= people, who are African Americans or Latin Americans. Immigration is the action of leaving one’s country or place, to another place or country, in the hope of another job, leaving from war, vacation, or to see far-away family. In this article, the author talks about immigration illegally and legally. It talks about how immigration illegally is much more risky and dangerous than legal immigration. Legal immigration takes time, yes. However, legal immigration is much safer than illegal immigration. If illegal immigrants get caught, they would be taken and exiled. The children of legal immigrants get devastated and are alone and their whole life turns upside down. Children are supposed to have fun with their parents. However, they would never be the same. The government and society are always so hard on immigrants which leads to some going illegally. The authors use logos, pathos, and ethos in their article are made by the Greek philosopher Aristotle. Emotions and sympathy are pathos, facts are logos, and ideals and beliefs are ethos.
