This articles talks about how nurses failed to report medication errors and how the use of a medication administration system will help either reduce or catch these errors. This article is considered creditable because it was a research article. I will use this article in my final project because it supports how medication errors will be caught. Jheeta, S., & Franklin, B. D. (2017). The impact of a hospital electronic prescribing and medication administration system on medication administration safety: An observational study. BMC Health Services Research, 17 (1). doi/10.1186/s12913- 017 - 2462 - 2 the purpose of this article is to show how the use of medication administration systems reduces the number of medications errors. The system they used kept track of the medications that were taken out of the system and compared them to those out of the system and compared them to the medications that were scanned in when giving the medication. This article is considered creditable because it was a research article done in 2017. I will use this article in my final project because it shows how using this type of system will reduce the amount of medication errors. Sakowski, J., Newman, J. M., & Dozier, K. (2008). Severity of medication administration errors detected by a bar-code medication administration system. American Journal of Health- System Pharmacy, 65 (17), 1661–1666. doi/10.2146/ajhp The purpose of this article was to show how medication errors are detected by the systems they use for medication administration. In this article it talks about how the dosages of medications that have been taken out have been too high. With a medication administration system these errors can be caught right away. I will use this in my final project by showing how errors can be reduced by these systems.
