Ethical aspects of digital health from a justice point of view. European Journal of Public Health, 29, This article talks about the ethical challenges facing digital healthcare. The authors pose questions regarding who should have access to patient data, how the information should be accessed and stored along with the type of informed consent that would be needed to give. The author explains that users should have truthful information regarding both benefits and risks regarding using the service if they see fit. In order to do this providers would need to provide technical training and education for users. Users should also understand what information they provide is being collected and how that information should be used. This article also looked at the ethical concerns regarding storing, accessing, sharing, and even the ownership of the information. Facilities should ensure that no unauthorized access occurs. Facilities should ensure that they understand why someone accessed the information and how they intend on using it to protect the privacy of patients. Additionally, the authors mentioned that in the case of giving bad news it is ethical to provide the information in a environment. This article was chosen because it looks at the ethical parts of using digital services in healthcare as well as the stakeholders in telehealth services. This was important to look at because all technology devices and internet services can be hacked exposing personal 4 credible as it comes from a research database. One author works as a program manager of an intensive care unit telemedicine program at the Cleveland clinic while the second author works as a nurse manager also at the Cleveland Clinic in the coronary intensive care and heart failure intensive care unit. From this article, I can get an idea of how I can form an implementation plan that looks at barriers to using telehealth services throughout healthcare departments. Innovations in Clinical Neuroscience, This article discusses how the pandemic forced healthcare organizations to find safe ways to continue treating and caring for patients to prevent the spread of COVID more than it harder had. Before the pandemic advice given to patients and their acceptance of the advice varied depending on their situation and whether or not they were instructed to seek immediate care or see their primary care provider. The pandemic introduced new ways of allowing patients access to telehealth services that just communicating on the phone or MyChart messages. Healthcare organizations face problems when figuring out how to implement telehealth services, technology unavailability, poor connection issues, privacy, and informed consent issues. As a result of and the increasing need to limit contact with others, privacy 5 concerns were pushed aside and many governments waived Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Acts (HIPAA) in order to allow the use of telehealth services as many compliant with HIPAA. The healthcare authors work with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences of Medical Center of Los Angeles. This article comes from a research database. This article was chosen as it points out the obvious limitations in the use of telehealth services. It shows that inperson visits would still be needed for the physical examination of patients. Additionally, the authors gave examples of advanced technology that could also be used in healthcare to help patients that may not be able to use telehealth services for various reasons. Lambe, C. (2020). Providing safe virtual health care: Nurses must be fully aware of how to maintain patient safety and confidentiality when providing health care via a virtual platform. Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand, 26(9), 37. This article talks about whether or not healthcare professionals can provide the same standard of care that patients expect when being treated in person as opposed to being treated using telehealth services. It is important to note that the responsibilities of healthcare professionals change slightly when using telehealth services compared to inperson sessions as privacy becomes harder to guarantee. When using telehealth services, nurses are faced with new responsibilities including informing patients that the sessions are recorded, gain informed consent and inform them of risks around using telehealth services. Nurses must still confirm patient identity. Nurses like any other health professional must ensure they use devices that are password protected. One of the responsibilities a nurse has to their patients includes ensuring 7 services for all healthcare professionals, the Australian government allowed individuals living in rural and remote areas to have a convenient way to get health care. Results from the Royal Australian College of Physicians taken during the pandemic found that of the participants wanted to continue telehealth services after the pandemic. This survey found that of physicians felt their patients would be more likely to keep these appointments vs keeping appointments. This article was chosen as it looked at the benefits of using telehealth and the feelings of physicians on using telehealth services to care for patients. Additionally, this article was from a peerreviewed source from 2020 (just over a year old). This article is with our current healthcare situation as we continue to deal with around the world. It comes from a healthcare database instead of a random google website. Additionally, this article was written someone with a PhD. Unfortunately, its credibility could be questioned as a result of it being published a organization that advocates for the rural communities in Australia.
