Role of Media in Politics Politics piques the media's interest on a regular basis. Newspapers and television news were the primary sources of information at the time. These exist now, but times have changed, and social media has surpassed traditional media as the dominant source of political news. Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are just a few examples. It has influenced public opinion as well. It grabs people's attention and quickly disseminates information. However, because of the growth of fake news, there are hazards linked with social media. The media has historically influenced American politics and public opinion. Social media is now widely utilized to report on politics. It's a brand-new way of communicating and publicizing political news. For example, “The political correspondence has become more unstable and unpredictable as a result of new media” (Owen). Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and other forms of media have changed throughout time. Any sort of social media would be a source of knowledge for younger generations. In addition, “However, social media has transformed the system, allowing incumbents and novices alike to communicate directly with voters on topics ranging from policy to what they ate for supper” (How Social Media). Based on this quotation, it's clear that social media has had a good impact on politics. Politicians used to speak on television or in newspapers, but now they communicate through Twitter, a social media platform. This is a way for young adults to interact with politics on social media. The media influences American politics and public opinion in a variety of ways. For example, “play a key role in informing people about what others believe and providing political leaders with enormous audiences” (Public Opinion). People's attitudes are influenced by the media, and their perspectives on some issues are skewed. When anything is shared on social
television and newspapers to social media platforms, the media landscape has changed dramatically. It is, however, a forum where false information may be propagated. Fake news, for example, may be disseminated until it reaches everyone, and easy information could be rendered credible. Fake news travels more quickly than real news, which is bad since it leaves people unsure of what to believe. To summarize, the media's role is to seek out and broadcast the truth to the general audience. The media has the power to educate the public, yet for a number of reasons, public tales are frequently distorted. Presidents of major news organizations who have swayed not just the public, but also the government and legislative chambers.
