Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and

communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's

views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border

this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from

the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying

definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly

indecent.

Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from

appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction.

However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique

interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more

consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a

liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in

their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image

offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges,

legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson

should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is easy to

determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial

A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San

Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric,

and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that

Should People Be Allowed To Keep Pit Bulls Essay

What comes to mind when you hear the word Pit Bull? Some people become struck with fear while

others are left grinning from ear to ear. I believe that people should be allowed to keep Pit Bulls as

pets.

People in the public are lead to believe that Pit Bulls are bred only as fighting dogs and that they are

aggressive to other dogs and humans. It is unfortunately true that some Pit Bulls are bred for

fighting but, not all are. There is a small percentage overall of Pit Bulls that are used as fighting

dogs, mostly Pit Bulls are family dogs. "Some pit bulls were selected and bred for their fighting

ability. That means that they may be more likely than other breeds to fight with dogs. It doesn't

mean that they can't be around other dogs or that they're unpredictably aggressive. Other pit bulls

were specifically bred for work and companionship. These dogs have long been popular family pets,

Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The

negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which

will endanger the earth. However, it's possible that some people in the world are willing to help;

people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate

change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to

several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change

comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the

reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth.

Greenhouse gases are the reason why climate change has affected the environment for many years.

Changes that can happen in the environment could be how cold is the temperature today, how much

sunlight is being produced during the day or is there enough clean water. The environment gets

affected when "the atmosphere traps the heat radiate into the Earth toward space" (NASA 1). When

that happens the environment will change the "impacts on human systems which involve food

production, local livelihoods, and health" issues (Environment and Climate Change Canada).

Different type of effects that can happen to the earth could be "sea levels, droughts, floods and other

extreme weathers, climate change ecosystem and extinction threats" (Greenpeace International 1).

Other living things such as insect, bird, or plant will be extinct or will move to different places in the

world and this will affect human health issues (National Geographic 1). These issues will cause

trouble to the earth's environment, and it's not possible to know when the problems will turn more

worst. Ice melting from the Arctic has increased, due to climate change and it will harm the polar

bears, seals, and penguins (National Geographic 1). My grandmother has grown vegetables in her

backyard, and as the climate changes, this affects the growing process of the food. In the summer

when I go outside the temperature has increased from the radiated of the sun shining towards me.

Why should anyone care about someone's life beyond their own? It seems like common sense.

People should value human life just like they value their own but with the rate of suicide, it's clear

they don't. Suicide is the act or instance of taking one's own life voluntarily (Merriam–Webster, n/a.)

Suicide prevention has not been viewed as something valuable to fund and that's contributing to the

rate of suicide today. People need to care simply because people are dying. People are taking their

own lives because the value place on mental health is not considered as high as the value placed on

physical health. Not many people are ending their own lives because of a broken leg, but because

their mental health is so invasive and painful they can no longer deal with the burden of living with

it. Humanity can move forward in helping the mentally ill by looking at the statistics and providing

active methods to help them. Each year 34,598 people die by suicide. That balances out to an

average of 94 suicides a day. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Those are just completed suicides, where it

ends in death. 864,960 suicides are attempted a year. This means that every 38 seconds, one person

attempts suicide. (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) People are attempting to end their lives at an alarming

high rate each and every day. Because of this, suicide ranks as the eleventh leading cause of death

across all ages (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) In fact, more people are dying from suicide than homicide.

So each year 34,598 completed suicides take place. In comparison to that, only 18,361 homicides

take place each year (Suicide Statistics, n/a.) Both are absolutely devastating but only one can

possibly be prevented. Homicides tend to be isolated, unpredictable events with nothing visible

leading up to them so there's no method of preventing them. However, with suicide, occasionally

there are warning signs and when noticed, preventive action can take place. Suicide on college

campuses is a growing issue. The rate of suicide of college campuses is .5 and 7 per 100,

are either happy or unhappy which leaves happiness as the status quo because there is not a word for
