Cardiovascular System Practical Study Guide

  1. Describe the pathway of a blood cell through both circuits of the circulatory system. Include all pertinent structures it will encounter along the way (you can think of this as a 14-step pathway).
  2. Define and describe the structure/function of arteries and veins. Discuss their differences and be sure to include comments about musculature and blood pressure.
  3. What are the two major arteries discussed in lab? Where do they originate and where do they carry blood to?
  4. What are semi-lunar valves and what is their function?
  5. What are auricles, in relation to the heart?
  6. Identify the following structures on the attached picture:
