Broken Mind
By: Spaced_Out_Jayce “Everything is broken. Everyone is going insane. Let the blood spill.”
You wake up in a cell, unable to remember anything, and a strange feeling crawling up your back. You don’t remember your name, but you know you need to escape. You see a strange person, and they have an object. You know it’s bad, but you cannot put your finger on it. All that the object represents is punishment, and you feel an unnatural sense of fear. The person starts speaking, but you do not understand a single word. You look at your hands, and see something of a dark blue goop in the shape of claws. You realize why the person has a weapon, and the reason why you are in a cell. You are a monster. For some reason, that calms you. But there is a restless feeling. The feeling is what controls you. The fear in the person’s eyes. It fuels you. It gives you power. You grin at the person, grateful for the fear they radiated, and they jump back, raising the weapon. You feel your face, and find three mouths, each with razor sharp teeth. When you put your hands on your head,
You could understand what he’s saying now, and you obey him, because he seemed panicked. You smelled something foul. It smelled like... smoke? Otherwise it would smell like the gas equivalent to human stool. Basically, you smelled what smelled like crap. You have a feeling someone wouldn’t approve of you saying that, but you can’t seem to remember who. Maybe this Remoriah? Then the “He” Choco was talking about started to speak. The feeling in the tone made you want to cover your ears. It sounded wrong. You didn’t want to listen. You wanted to destroy the source.
Escape
Once the voice stopped talking and you heard footsteps walking away, you looked up at Choco. He’s helped you, and he’s given you back your name. You are Jupiter, somehow turned into this sort of creature. Does he have the key to your cell? You try to ask him for the keys, but all you seem to be able to say are just a bunch of growls. Realizing speaking is not something you can do, you mime keys unlocking something. Choco seems to understand and pulls out a pair of keys. He messes with the keys, looking for the right one. Choco then unlocks the door. “We need to go fast, or he’s gonna find us and destroy you.”
A part of you remembered Venus, and you thought of something you shouldn’t have remembered. Roman gods. You and a bunch of others were named after the Roman gods. They never existed in Erian, but you remembered you and a bunch of others bringing books on mythology to the libraries so others could discover something outside their plane of existence. All that was different from now. You were blind. You had no eyes. But it made you see more. It made you who you are now. You couldn’t see the visual tortures, so they used sound. You couldn’t take the pain, so you went into a second form that
could see, and you planned to destroy them
all. You were more unstable in this form, called insane. Now you need to fix it. The guard walked past the two of you, and Choco gave you the signal. By some odd reason, you made it to someplace near Venus, close enough to talk to her. You send a string of goop over
to tap her shoulder. Venus whirls around, with a dagger at your neck. “I may be named after the Roman goddess of love, but I can still kill you all the well.” You feel threatened by the dagger at you throat, but you make an attempt to pull back the goop. She gasps, which most likely means that the goop on your face is gone. You can’t see anymore. “Jupiter? Is that really you? I was told you
were gone. I didn’t know you were this type of
gone.” “Yeah well not much happened. Well were going on an escape mission, so if you want to come and kill some dudes, we need to get going.”
You tap the bracelet twice, and it turns into one of those cool roman legionnaire helmets. How you know this, you have no idea. “Sweet” You put on the helmet and can see. The helmet melts into your hair, giving it a goopy feeling that you heavily dislike. You look down at what you’re wearing, and discover a shirt that’s hanging off your left shoulder, and a pair of night sky blue shorts. You can hear Choco laughing. “Wish I had legs like that. I bet if you put a
raw egg on that, it would actually burn.”
You blush, and you wish you could’ve stayed in your corrupt form. You spot a table and have the sudden urge to yell at it. You restrain yourself, because if you do scream at the table, the god/goddess inside would not be happy with you. There is an egg on the table. Choco notices it and smirks. “Well, well. Lucky boy. Now we get to see if the egg will actually cook.” Venus gives him a look. “REALLY? Are you seriously going to trust a table with a raw egg?! I’ve had experience with table gods before. It was not pretty.”
“SHOTGUN!!!”
He bolts to the seat, and somehow, a leg stops him. He looks over to Venus, and she raises an eyebrow. He backs away slowly to the backseat and gets in. You smile gratefully at her and get inside the vehicle. You look at the GPS and it says ‘The Wanderer’s place’. You tilt your head in confusion. “Who’s The Wanderer?” Venus looks at you and makes a face. “The Wanderer is Jayce. I assume you don’t remember him. He went undercover when the leaders were overthrown to save them and all the citizens from the hands of the MonsterMaker, which is what they called the man”
You nod, understanding the cause that the Summoner and his army were working for. Then you get curious about the Summoner’s abilities. “What can he do? If he can summon things and people, how come he hasn’t just summoned us?” “He’s only a kid. He’s also incognito and wants to stay that way until it’s his time. A summon of three people? Not possible for a seventeen year old draconian to do, even if he has a RuneSparrow feather. At least Kayos got away from the MonsterMaker. She’ll know what to do” You remember a name. Someone who is similar to you in a few memories that you were returned. “Is Hestia okay?”
The three of you exit the car and Venus reforms it into a hankerchief. You tilt your head at the empty space in front of you. “Where is it?” You ask, and Venus puts a hand up. She whispers a few words in Wolf, and a trapdoor appears. She stands at the door and puts a hand out. “ Jupes first.” You smile and go down the trapdoor. A white haired Wolf walk over. You know that you know her, but you can’t put your finger on her name. Luckily, she introduces herself. “Hello and welcome to the LionDen. I’m Remoriah, and HOLY HADES is that you Jupiter?”
You smile sheepishly and nod. Remoriah then rushes the three of you to a room. You take the time to look around and eat some food that was left on the counter. It was good food. The Wolves were good at cooking apparently. A Shadow Lion with an odd mask walks in the room. You can see him slump a bit with relief, knowing that you are here and that you are safe. “Jupes, can you never disappear from me ever again? Nearly gave me a heart attack. What happened. I need to know what they did to you.” You shift in your seat nervously. Your eyes seem to want to look anywhere other than Jayce, and you curse them under your breath. Jayce tilts his head. “Are you okay? Why won’t you look me in the eye?”
“It takes you to your room. The runes will dim the farther you are from your room, and the closer you are, the brighter they are. I hope when you get to your room, you stay there until dinner. We need to diagnose your... ability.” You nod, get up and start walking in the direction where the runes glow brightest. Soon enough, you find a door that has stars all over it, like a night sky, with the same exact runes as your key. The key was giving a blinding light when you saw the door in front of you. There is no keyhole. You stare at the door’s runes and then at the key’s. What if you put the key up to the door? You then proceed to put the key to the door, and voila! It opens.
The Den
A small robot runs up to you and greets you.
“Mr. Jupiter? Mr. Jupiter! Welcome back! If you forgot about me, I’m Juno, your AI assistant. Do you need anything? To eat, to drink?” You smile at the tiny android. A face projects from a screen with a big grin. You aren’t hungry, and you have had a crap ton of water. “Thank you Juno, but I think I’m good. What else can you do?” The android thinks about it for a bit. “Well, I was specially commissioned by the Wanderer to help you out due to your... former, blindness, and was given many abilities. I can clean, cook, tell any kind of story, fight if necessary, which I hope I will never use. What do you want me to do? Would you like me to tell you some mythology?”
