Poetry Portfolio Project

Over the next two weeks, we will be exploring different forms of

poetry! At the end of this unit, you will be responsible for turning in

your own personal poetry portfolio. (How’s that for alliteration? 䨏Ѐ)

Your portfolio must include 8 original poems using at least 5 different

forms of poetry. These poems must include examples of poetic tools

and literary devices. At least three of your poems should include a

simile, metaphor, alliteration, hyperbole, personification, or

onomatopoeia. You are highly encouraged to illustrate your poems to

make them come alive! Portfolios can be typed or handwritten.

You will also be responsible for including 2 poems that you have read

before or enjoy in your portfolio. For these poems, you will need to

write a paragraph explaining why you chose that particular work.

This project will be due on Tuesday, November 24 before you leave for

Thanksgiving break! Over the next two weeks, we will work on this

assignment and begin to compile pieces for your portfolio. Please look

at the rubric on the back of this page for grading requirements.
