The Interdisciplinary Team

● It is an unrealistic form of training in the US. ● In the US, Healthcare students are trained separately, unlike those who train in Asia and Europe a. Characteristics of good functioning healthcare team(from EU research):

  1. They support each other (correctly relay ideas to each other, respect others ideas, and oer constructive criticism)
  2. Share common set of values (everyone puts the patient first)→ patient centered care
  3. Team members contributions are valued
  4. Having appropriate measures in place to foster communication between facility (team members) {the facility doesn’t allow time/space to do this}
  5. Team utilizes feedback (from patients and each other to improve quality of care → some people are quick about documentation
  6. Utilizes collaborative communication to promote decision-making (responsibility is spread out, rather than concentrated into one person; everyone must contribute thoughts)
  7. Administration - provides adequate team stang to provide the patient the care needed (doesn’t reflect well on facility if the opposite happens)
  8. Administration hires healthcare professionals who will work as part of a team (prevents unnecessary conflicts and atmosphere doesn’t feel adversarial)
  9. Respect for other health professionals and their knowledge base
  10. Part 1. Recognition of individual’s contributions Part 2. Administration facilitates professional development ● Dierence between career & job is the title; how much work is needed to perform tasks and can you move up? Level of education/skills needed is important too.

It is an unrealistic form of training in the US.
In the US, Healthcare students are trained separately, unlike those who train in Asia and Europe
a. In Asia & Europe, a group of healthcare students from all schools go together on rounds
