Perspectives on Personality: Predicting Personality Traits
After watching the video, answer the following questions:
1. How easily did people identify their own and others’ personality traits?
They all were quick to answer whose personality traits were written on the papers. I think
it was because they all knew each other beforehand so it was fairly easy for them to
distinguish each other by their personalities.
2. What were some of the common, and distinctive, personality traits that they identified
among themselves?
Funny and compassionate were both Taylor and Kendra’s personality traits.
3. Were you surprised (or not?) about the accuracy of their predictions regarding one
another’s’ personality traits, and how come?
No, I was not surprised. I actually don’t know any of them but from intuition and previous
videos with them, I could make an assumption of each of their personalities myself. They also
know each other personally.
4. Consider the range of personality traits that are discussed in these chapters on Trait
Approaches in your book. Can you identify any of them among the characteristics
discussed by the individuals in these videos? If so, which ones?
Everyone showed extraversion except for maybe Denis. He didn’t really seem to be immersed in
the activity as everyone else was; maybe he was just uninterested. They all, though, answered
along with each other and seemed comfortable in each other’s space.
5. Indicate which person in this video you think might be the HIGHEST in relation to each
of the following traits discussed in the book?
Neuroticism: Denis
Extraversion: Kendra
Openness: Taylor
