Inside Bill’s Brain
Bill Gates has worked and led many projects outside of creating Microsoft, the largest
vendor of computer software in the world. These projects put into consideration the health and
safety of others with Bill’s plan of sustaining life, typically in geographical regions that struggled
to do so. Bill Gates used financial resources obtained through Microsoft and close friends to fund
projects that worked to eradicate death due to highlighted factors such as diarrhea, polio, and
global warming. Before watching the following documentaries, I did not realize the specifics and
scale to these projects, but after seeing what Bill Gates strives towards on a daily basis amazed
me and left me feeling a great deal of respect towards him. Bill Gates was driven by the
stimulation he received through working and thinking about how to create a better future, putting
him in a great role to tackle these world problems with determination.
A rather sad and shocking quote I recorded from Bill Gates regarding the diarrhea crisis
stated, “ 3 million times a year parents are burying their children due to diarrhea related deaths,
yet I have not personally met a parent that had to do so.” In the following section of the film, Bill
is explaining how many people were dying, specifically kids, thanks to highly-contaminated
water in less developed countries. Many slums in 3rd world countries lacked sanitary sewage
systems/piping and relied on either buckets for defection or utilizing nature’s ground. In the
documentary, there was a New York Times journalist speaking of his time reporting in India,
“When I asked the family of which I was interviewing where I could pee they pointed to this
