Root, Prefix or Suffix?
Instructions: In a short paragraph please explain what a root, a prefix, and a suffix are, also explain the differences.
A root is the basis of a word and is usually derived from a Greek or Latin origin. The prefix is what
precedes the root. The suffix is found after the root. Not all words have to have all three components;
some may just have two of the three. Combining the meanings of the prefix, root, and suffix of the
word will give you the meaning of the word.
