Instructions: Using words from within the chapter fill in the blanks.
1. When a person is standing upright, facing forward, arms at his or her sides, palms facing forward, legs parallel,
and feet slightly apart with toes pointing forward, he or she is in standard position called the anatomical position.
2. Identify the terms used to describe the region of the human body, assuming it is in anatomical position.
i. Front of body: ventral, or anterior.
ii. Back of body: dorsal, or posterior.
3. When you say “the eyes are superior to the mouth”, you mean they are located above the mouth.
4. An imaginary flat surface that divides the body into two sections is a body plane.
5. Name the three body planes and the anatomical terms of location that correspond with that particular body plane.
