  1. Clearly identify the argument. The argument is why Drug overdoses remain high.

  2. The premise Is that synthetic opioids are the driving force.

  3. The conclusion is that fentanyl, which is a synthetic drug, is on the rise and is the culprit behind most overdoses.

  4. The speaker uses deductive reasoning. The general idea is if we can put a stop to synthetic opioids then the drug overdoses will decrease

  5. Fallacy- Slippery slope – If the sale or distribution of synthetic opioids can be stopped or even slowed down, we will see a drastic change in the number of drug overdoses. Scare tactic.

  6. Credibility- The source has credibility because it is a news channel (ABC Action News) The source is free from bias and is backed with evidence.

  7. Categorical logic- The current affair has categorical logic because it is stating that, if we get control of the synthetic opioid crisis, if and only if, then the number of overdoses will drop.

  8. These three arguments fit the concept of the argument that .......

  9. This newscast was purposeful because it is making people aware of a growing problem in our communities.

In my opinion, I think that this news report is very convincing, and it is very informative. It’s scary to know that these types of drugs exist, but on the hand, it is good to know that they are out there so that we can warn others of them and talk to our kids about how deadly they are in such small amounts.
