NURS 497 Professional Nursing SMART GOALS

Directions: Write 2 long-term and 3 short-term goals (or vice versa) professional nursing SMART goals. Each goal must be written in the SMART format and include a month and year deadline. In addition, each SMART goal must include 3 Action Steps that need to be accomplished to meet the goal. SMART goals must be related ONLY to your professional nursing career development and growth.

Short Term Goal 1 SMART Goal (Month/Year): I will take my NCLEX by September 18, 2023 Action Items: 1. I will do 1000 practice questions each week. 2. I will read ATI books 1 hour a day. 3. I will review weakest subjects first.

Short Term Goal 2 SMART Goal (Month/Year): I will pass the exit exam by August 18, 2023 Action Items: 1. I will complete Professor Caluya’s ATI quizzes. 2. I will utilize dynamic quizzes on ATI. 3. I will practice without study mode on.

Long Term Goal 3 SMART Goal (Month/Year): I will work in Long Beach Memorial’s Labor and Delivery unit by November 2023. Action Items: 1. I will update my LinkedIn profile. 2. I will perfect my elevator speech. 3. I will attain 2-3 letters of recommendation

Long Term Goal 4 SMART Goal (Month/Year): I will be comfortable giving report by December 2023 Action Items: 1. I will study report sheets. 2. I will observe in clinicals pertinent information given by each nurse. 3. I will ask more questions regarding reports during clinicals.

Long Term Goal 5 SMART Goal(Month/Year): I will be comfortable speaking with physicians by November 2023. Action Items: 1. I will practice SBAR reports during clinical. 2. I will ask nurses what situations we need to call physician for. 3. I will observe conversations had between physician’s and nurses during the rest of my clinical shifts.
