NURS 497 Professional Nursing SMART GOALS

Directions: Write 2 long-term and 3 short-term goals (or vice versa) professional nursing SMART goals.

Each goal must be written in the SMART format and include a month and year deadline. In addition, each

SMART goal must include 3 Action Steps that need to be accomplished to meet the goal. SMART goals

must be related ONLY to your professional nursing career development and growth.

1. Update my resume and letters of recommendation

2. Complete the application process

1. Learn and improve skills in the previous unit

2. Apply to position

3. Apply previous knowledge and be open to learn new skills

Long Term Goal 5 SMART Goal(Month/Year):

I will continue my education and pursue my Master’s degree

by August, 2026

Action Items:

1. Work as a nurse for 2 years

2. Research school programs for Master’s in nursing

3. Apply to a school and complete admission process
