NURS 497 Professional Nursing SMART GOALS
Directions: Write 2 long-term and 3 short-term goals (or vice versa) professional nursing SMART goals. Each goal must be written in the SMART format and include a month and year deadline. In addition, each SMART goal must include 3 Action Steps that need to be accomplished to meet the goal. SMART goals must be related ONLY to your professional nursing career development and growth.

Long Term Goal 3 SMART Goal (Month/Year): I will pursue a master's in Nursing by 4/
Action Items:
- I will enroll in a master of science nursing program with a chosen specialty in family medicine
- I will complete the program and apply for education
- I will obtain my master's degree within the next 5 to 10 years
Long Term Goal 4 SMART Goal (Month/Year): I will obtain a leadership position for patient safety outcomes in hospitals taking up improvement and data analysis by 4/
Action Items:
- I will implement improved projects measuring patient response and outcomes through evidence-based practices
- I will lead two participation education programs and seek opportunities to further educate on patient safety outcomes
- I will take lead initiatives in the next 5 years
Long Term Goal 5 SMART Goal(Month/Year): Work in dialysis specialty by 3/

Action Items:
- I will attend two info sessions related to end-stage renal disease
- I will prepare and practice IV starts every month
- I will practice physical assessments related to dialysis including bruits and palpable thrills
