  1. Observations During my time at Machado Elementary School, all the students behaved very well and were being nice to each other. It was also Mrs. Almodóvar’s birthday, so we celebrated her birthday with joy, and I had fun talking with the other teachers as they were all very nice. Overall, my day has been enjoyable, and everyone seems to enjoy their day too.
  2. Heath Related Education Provided This is an expectation for each clinical day.

a) Education student provided: I provided education about practicing healthful behaviors.

b) Education clinical site provided: Provided education about mental and emotional health.

  1. Health Care Interventions This is an expectation for each clinical day.

a) Interventions student provided: I helped the students practice how to take action to reduce risks and protect themselves against illness and injury, such as making sure to tie their shoes when they’re untied to prevent fall injury and making sure to perform hand hygiene every time they finish eating food or after their recess. Also, being aware of their surroundings, such as looking where they are going every time they walk outside because the students get distracted all the time by their surroundings and start not to look at what’s in front of them.

b) Interventions the clinical site provides: The teachers provided ways to calm themselves when they feel emotionally distressed such as keeping their body calm and quiet and keeping their hands to themselves when they’re angry. Additionally, trying to reflect on their behaviors and feelings and show how the student can be good examples to their classmate.

  1. Relation To Theory Content This should be an in-depth discussion of what you experienced in clinical and relate to theory content for N342L. Write this section as if the reader has no knowledge of public health theory or clinical content.

a) State theory: Health Education: Learning domains (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor).

b) Discuss in your own words, what this theory is and give a general example: One way of knowing the nature of learning is by examining the cognitive (Thinking), affective (Feeling), and psychomotor (Acting) of the learners and each behavior holds a vital component in providing adequate health education.

c) Describe what you saw, heard, or learned at the clinical site and how this relates to the theory content described above: While I was in class with Mrs. Almodóvar, she demonstrated her class with the psychomotor domain of learning, which involves performance skills that include neuromuscular coordination and motor skills. This includes cutting pictures with scissors, finishing puzzles, building towers with blocks, and performing proper hand washing. Mrs. A had to show a live demonstration

first, making sure that her students had the necessary ability to perform a particular skill with the assistance of the other teachers and me.

  1. Highlight

a) What was it: It was a typical day that involved art activities, building puzzles, and practicing reading and writing sight words.

b) Scenario: After our daily singing activities of different alphabet songs and days/months songs, we celebrated Mrs. Almodóvar’s birthday by singing happy birthday to her and having a little snack. We then began our activities of reading sight words and had them build block towers, finish puzzle pieces, and coloring activities. The students performed very well with their activities and behaved very well.

c) Feelings: I felt so proud of the students on how they have improved their skills in terms of finishing puzzle pieces on their own and knowing how to color pictures beautifully. Every week I always see one or two students becoming better and more disciplined, and it just shows how important education is to children as this molds them to become skillful and intelligent when they grow up.

d) What students will take away to use in the next clinical day and future: Involve yourself in every step of their learning activities and guide them as much as possible. Also, make sure to give them independence and not make them rely on you so much, as they learn quicker when they learn every process on their own and find ways to be creative in their own ways.
