TEACHER INTERVIEW

Student Name: Eridania Inoa

Date: 07/09/

A. nj/education/standards/

B. 30minutes interview with Ms. Gomez. Form Completed.

1. DESCRIPTION:

• Application of content standards used in your state

Are use in the state of New Jersey so teachers can use these standards for ELA ,

Science, math, and social studies but also teachers use the state standards for what

they are teaching and the grade level and should be introduced to the topic the

students are learning about.

• Internal and external influences that impact education at your school or district

Internal and External that impact are when the teachers are overwhelmed with the

number of students in a classroom it can be challenging with the constant expectations

of the learning I think the district should contently maintain the standards base in the

effort to close the achievements gaps with all the students.

• Teacher identity and view of self (i., Hattie’s mindframes)

From my point of view every teacher has a different style of teaching and how students

will get what she’s explaining at the moment, getting the experience she need to

become successful and keep working in the class also she will engage in some way to

adapt to her students, also from Hattie’s Mindframes teachers will use her creativity,

communication, patience, empathy and managements skills to encourage all her

students to succeed.

• Ways teachers can continue to grow in their teaching practice or professional

development

Different ways that I think teachers can continue to grow is in different ways will be

practicing their professionalism, personalize their teaching leaning with new strategies

developing and professional plan like what subjects they can teach more comfortable

that the students can understand, like setting a smart goal, taking online courses to

help me the to become more successful, reading books, also having a mentor in the

school that can help them to be guide and have a better success on the career.

2. FEELINGS:

• How you felt before the interview.

Before the interview it was a little anxious because it was my first time interviewing a

teacher but at the same time a felt comfortable because Ms. Gomez is the teacher that I

currently work with at the moment in school but knowing all the information I was going
to receive from Ms. Gomez will be so helpful.
  • How you felt during the interview.
During the interview I felt that every imformation Ms. Gomez was giving me at the moment was going to
be so helpful for my future career as a teacher and I wrote down every question and the answers she
gave me for my future references plus it was my first time interviwing someone that is relative to what I
want to do in my future.
  • How you think the teacher felt about the interview.
The teacher felt very happy and excited to help me with this interview because she told
me she’s glad that I’m inspired to be a teacher and that makes her happy through the
interview Ms. Gomez felt like she is a motivation for more people to become an
educator also Ms. Gomez felt so comfortable in answering all my questions and the
extras one that I have for her on top of her time that she didn’t have that much and still
dedicated me a few more minutes.

3. EVALUATIONS:

A. Describe how the interview did or did not align to what you had expected.
Something that did not a align to what I expected was the amount of time Ms. Gomez took out to
dedicated to me on this interview and it was something that I did not expected since she is outside
the country on her vacation she took the time to answers all my questions and make sure that I
understand them as well and also she provide me a quick scenario in how to handle things in some
situations of the extra questions that I have for her she clearly explained and gave me the answers I
need she also gave me the time for me to write the answers down on my notebook.
B. Describe something that went well during the interview.
Her giving me the time to write down the answers on all my questions and also something for me
that went well on this interview was the she guide me through on how to emphasize and buil a good
relationships with partners students parents also provide me some scenarios.
C. Describe something that you would do differently, based on your experience in
the interview.
Something I will do differently base on this experience is changing some policy’s
and standars questions to my personals one that I wanted to ask to have a better
descriptions and ideas.

4. ANALYSYS

  • Application of content standards used in your state.
vacation also preferred to be in person so the teachers can create a better scenarios
on what they are explaining.

6. ACTION:

A. Explain how one of Hattie’s mindframes supports teacher success.
One of the Hattie’s Mindframes that support the teachers to success is when they
collaborate well with the peers and the students about the conceptions of progress
and impact.

explained in part C6a
One strength from Hattie’s mindframes is that there is a lot different ways to work
with the students to test their abilities of leaning and help them with their needs and
one weakness is letting my emotions and how I feel lower my standards in a student
that is having a hard circumstance if it shows up.
C. Create a SMART goal you can work on that will support your development into a
teacher
A smart goal that will support me developing me into a teacher will be in

E. Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of
your submission.

MY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. What state standards or national standards do you use when planning instruction?
As a 4th grade math teacher in the state of New Jersey, we are required to use the New Jersey Student
Learning Standards for Mathematics. Some key areas covered in the 4th grade math standards are:
1. Number and Operations: Students develop an understanding of place value, properties of
operations, and fluency with multi-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They
also explore fractions, decimals, and their relationships.
2. Geometry: Students identify and classify shapes based on their attributes and explore angles,
symmetry, and coordinate systems.
3. Measurement and Data: Students measure and estimate lengths using different units, convert
measurements, and solve problems involving measurements.
4. Algebraic Thinking: Students understand patterns, analyze relationships between numbers, and
solve problems involving numerical expressions and equations.
5. Mathematical Practices: These standards emphasize the development of mathematical
reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
2. What is the impact of your student population in your current setting?
Currently I teach in the Bayonne School District. My 4th grade classroom consists of 28
students. Having 28 students in a 4th-grade classroom can impact classroom dynamics. With a
relatively large class, it requires additional effort to manage student behavior, ensure individual
attention, and maintain an inclusive learning environment. With a larger student population, it
is more challenging to provide individualized attention to each student. I need to implement
strategies to differentiate instruction, identify and address individual learning needs, and create
opportunities for student engagement. A larger student population offers opportunities for
diverse collaboration and group work. Students can engage with peers of different cultures (the
population of my students is all of Latino background), perspectives, and skill sets, enhancing
their ability to work collaboratively and develop essential social skills.
