Key Terms

  • Dietary Supplements - products intended to supplement the diet. They are not medicines and are not intended to treat, diagnose, mitigate, prevent, or cure diseases.
  • Herbs- one type of dietary supplement available for purchase. Herbal supplements and plants have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. But herbal supplements generally haven't been subjected to the same scientific scrutiny and aren't as strictly regulated as medications.
