TAUGHT POSTGRADUATE PROJECT ETHICS CHECKLIST

RESEARCH ETHICS APPROVAL NEEDS TO BE OBTAINED BEFORE RESEARCH

CAN BEGIN

The ethics checklist is a modified version and only needs completing if you are a

student who plans to undertake a research project which will involve people

participating in research either directly (e. interviews, questionnaires, focus

groups, and observation) and/or indirectly (e. people permitting access to data).

Feedback from supervisor and second marker within TWO WEEKS.

If you are a student who plans to undertake a research project which will involve

the NHS, patients, children/young people aged under 18 years, people with

disabilities, migrants, asylum seekers and refugees, you must submit the checklist

to foml@bradford.ac.

Summary of the

project –

background

information

The tourism sector is an important sector that provides economic growth,

creating jobs along with helping in protecting the environment. However,

this sector also influences social inequalities along with environmental

degradation. In this regard, maintaining economic growth, fostering social

equality along with environmental conservation has become crucial for the

tourism sector. In addition, less explored research areas and limited

previous literature also make this research more important to explore the

research context.

Research aim,

question(s) or

objectives

Aim

The main aim of this research is to explore the strategies to balance

between "economic growth, environmental conservation, and social equity

in the tourism industry" by exploring current challenges.

Objectives

Ethics Checklist 2023

to be typewritten

 To investigate the current challenges within the tourism sector in

the context of economic growth, environmental conservation, and

social equity

 To evaluate the practices, policies and existing framework for

promotion of sustainability in tourism industry

 To explore the different strategies for economic development,

environmental conservation, and social equity in the context of

tourism

 To propose the best innovative approaches for balancing between

economic growth, environmental conservation, and social equity in

the tourism industry

Methods of data

collection and

analysis (briefly)

"Pragmatism research philosophy" will be utilised for this research to

evaluate the complex phenomenon of balancing between economic

development and environmental sustainability within the tourism sector. As

stated by Ren et al. (2019), "Pragmatism research philosophy" is suitable

for researching complex research areas by analyse the research topic with

multiple methods and enhancing the subject matter understanding of the

research context.

"Sequential exploratory research design" will be used for this research to

analyse the balance between economic growth and environmental

sustainability within the tourism sector. As stated by Leitão and Lorente

(2020), "Sequential exploratory research design" is suitable for research

on the tourism sector by analysing the both data, qualitative and

quantitative data sources and meets the research questions effectively.

This has further enhanced the validity, acceptability along with quality of

the research.

This research will be based on "Qualitative" research. Qualitative research

is effective for in-depth understanding of the complex phenomenon of the

tourism industry and balancing economic development with a sustainable

environment. This type of research is also helpful in improving research

quality by developing new concepts and theories regarding economic

development with a sustainable environment within the tourism sector.

In terms of the primary data, a total of 30 responses will be collected for

this research and the "Random sampling method" will be utilized.

"Random sampling method" is effective in generalizability of research

findings into a larger research context that helps in enhancing research

quality and acceptability.

"Primary quantitative data" and "secondary qualitative data", both will be

collected for this research to critically analyse the balance between

economic development and environmental sustainability within the tourism

sector. Adoption of both data can help in improving research validity by in-

depth analysis of the research topic and analyse the unexplored area of

the research topic (Lima Santos et al. 2020).

In terms of secondary qualitative data, Google Scholar will be considered

as the data sources that can help in collecting secondary data. On the

other hand, primary data sources will be considered as survey

questionnaire responses.

In the primary quantitative data collection process, a survey questionnaire

for 30 responses will be developed that helps in collection of authentic

data by using Google forms.

Please type

Table 1: Only complete Table 1 when secondary data are to be used

documentation, minutes of meetings etc)
