Introduction:

Introducing myself, I am Neel Chovatia from Surat, one of the fastest-growing cities of India. Belonging to a joint family that has always been very supportive in my decisions and encouraged me for a better future, I have been fortunate enough to get the company of some of the great personas as friends. Studying for a bachelor program in Economic and Financial Management requires a certain determination and strength of character. Being a citizen of India I observe that in recent years, there had been lots of ups and down in economy of India and many international organisations have declared that Indian economy is very complex, huge and increasing at rapid rate. According to my viewpoints, many folks of my country don’t have knowledge about finance, how to manage money at every step of life. I am unique and uniquely destined, to have a modern background both academically and professionally which has exposed me to different people, cultures, and languages. I am thoroughly prepared for the demands and challenges presented by undertaking course in the Economics and Financial Management.

From my schooling time, I displayed very keen interest in the subjects of accounting and economics, which comprehensively enhanced my analytical and quantitative skills. If I talk about my background, then I have always been a bright student. I cleared my matriculation with 68% in 2020 and intermediate with 79% in 2022 from the Central Board of Secondary Education.

I cleared my IELTS with 6 Band Score on 27th September 2022. This English aptitude score is sufficient to get admission to Wilfrid Laurier University. Hence, language won’t be a barrier in my education from Canada. This will make my future bright in Business in Finance because I will cover all the subjects of management. I am here by applying to study Bachelor in Economics and Financial Management at Wilfrid Laurier International College, Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada. It is a four year program and the first year will be UTP stage II in Business and Economics, which will be offered at Wilfrid Laurier International College and the rest three years will be completed at Wilfrid Laurier University.

The motivation behind the selection of UTP Stage II and BA Economics and Financial Management?

I wanted to make my career in a field which is expansive and persistent. Economic and finance plays a crucial role in every nation. This particular course amuses me for learning how every country’s economy work and what types of difficulties they have to face while taking any decision for the economy. This program can also help me out to acknowledge myself with functioning of modern financial systems. This program can teach me to understand and analyse economics and financial phenomena in an international perspective. Not only that it is perfect program for me to learn about and understand large sets of issues in economy like the effects of globalisation, the functioning of labour market and role of central banks and monetary policy.

In addition, graduates I’ll be able to collaborate on a number of more complex functions, including financial analysis. To be more specific, after completion of this program, I would be able to Process and maintain financial records in compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulations for individuals and/or organizations. Also, here are some of the job profiles that are offered post completion of this

course: Investment banking, Marketing intelligence, Economist, Business analyst, Business consultant,

Financial / Risk analyst.

Why Wilfrid Laurier International College at Wilfrid Laurier University?

While researching different universities in Canada for Bachelor in Economics and Finance programs, I found Wilfrid Laurier University and its bachelor's program (Economics and Financial Management BA) that matches my needs and enriches my understanding in the field of Economics and Finance. My plan after completing my tenure in WLIC is to join the Wilfrid Laurier University and get enrolled in the Bachelors in Economics and Financial Management course. This university is popular among international students because it is one of the oldest universities in Canada that offers a world-class academic education. Also, this was the second university in Canada to qualify for the prestigious designation as "Changemaker Campus" by Ashoka U. This university’s classroom education and practical learning experiences through co-op and Capstone Project combinedly make me an excellent graduate. The faculties of this university are recognized for their devotion, engagement, and passion for teaching through several high-profile awards at institutional, provincial, national, and international levels. Besides, this university provides a smaller class size (Faculty/Student Ratio: 1:25), state-of-the-art infrastructure, and a wide-ranging and sufficiently industry-linked program that attracted me a lot. The dynamic environment of this well-known university will help in the overall development of my personality. At Wilfrid Laurier University, working with a varied group of people will certainly enlarge my network and help me become a skilled professional.

Why Canada?

There are quite a few reasons which influenced me to prefer my studies in Canada. Firstly, the country offers higher quality international education with soundly affordable tuition fees than countries like the USA, UK, and Australia offer. As a highly advanced nation, Canada’s institutions focus on more real-world and industry-oriented training. Canada is the best for my bachelor's studies because Canadian institutes provide career-focused programs, and course curricula at par with the latest industrial trends and the needs of the job market. The existence of many top-class firms in the country gives ample opportunities to gain industrial exposure during internships. Canada is one of the most secure and diverse countries armed with exceptional living standards and infrastructure. Overall, it is very promising that Canada is very warm and welcoming of international students.

Family and Finance:

I grew up in a close-knit and well-established family. My father is a Businessman he is involved in real estate, Trading in steel and Cement. My lovely and caring mother is a businesswoman she is also involved in trading in my father business. I am completely aware of the financial difficulties of this program. I have paid my fees of CAD 14,000 at the university. I have already opened a GIC account and deposited of C$10,000 with Nova Scotia Bank to supervise my staying and housing costs during my stay in Canada. I have also earned a scholarship of CAD 4500 from Wilfrid Laurier University. I am fortunate that my family continues to support my further education. My father will shoulder the majority of expenses incurred during my stay in Canada. The attached consolidated statement shows liquid and fixed assets and their value. According to it, the total cost of my program and living in Canada for the period of my program would be C$ 1,30,000. We have shown total funds of INR 18,21,32,529 which is equivalent to C$ 30,51,818. Moreover, I have also acquired education loan of INR 40,00,000 from The Varachha
