1 About Youth for seva
Youth for Seva (YFS) places a significant emphasis on education as a fundamental tool for
societal transformation. The organization's commitment to education reflects its belief in the
power of knowledge to create lasting impact and empower individuals and communities.
YFS's educational initiatives are designed to address various facets of the learning
ecosystem. This includes supporting formal education through initiatives such as tutoring
programs, after-school classes, and scholarship programs. By providing additional
educational resources and personalized assistance, YFS aims to bridge gaps in learning.
Beyond formal education, YFS recognizes the importance of holistic development. The and

1 Highlights of the Orientation Session:
Introduction to Youth for Seva: Mr. R Guru initiated the session with an engaging
introduction to Youth for Seva. He underscored the organization's core mission, which is to
empower and mobilize youth to actively participate in community service. He emphasized
that Seva," which means selfless service, lies at the heart of the organization's values. Role
of Youth in Community Service: The session delved into the pivotal role that young
individuals can play in addressing social challenges. Mr. R Guru emphasized that
volunteering is not just about giving back to society but also about

Objective

The objectives of an internship with Youth for Seva (YFS) may include:
 Hands-On Experience: Provide interns with practical, hands-on experience in various
aspects of community service and social initiatives.
 Skill Development: Facilitate the development of essential skills, such as
communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, through active
participation in YFS projects.
 Exposure to Social Issues: Increase interns' awareness and understanding of social
issues by involving them in projects related to education, healthcare, community
development, or other focus areas of YFS.
 Contribution to Initiatives: Enable interns to actively contribute to YFS initiatives,
making a meaningful impact on the communities served by the organization.
 Networking and Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment where interns can
interact with like-minded individuals, YFS volunteers, and professionals engaged in
social work.
 Professional Development: Support interns in their professional growth by providing
mentorship, guidance, and exposure to the workings of a non- profit organization
dedicated to social change.
 Understanding Non-Profit Operations: Help interns gain insights into the operations,
management, and challenges faced by non-profit organizations working towards
community development.
 Civic Engagement: Encourage interns to become active and responsible citizens by
engaging them in projects that promote civic awareness, responsibility, and
participation.
 Empowerment through Education: Emphasize the role of education as a tool for
empowerment, encouraging interns to contribute to educational initiatives and

interns, inspiring them to continue contributing to community service beyond the
internship period

students were fully engaged. We encouraged them to ask questions, share their thoughts, and
actively participate in group activities. This interactive approach not only enhanced their
comprehension of the topics but also made the learning process enjoyable and memorable

Conclusion:
The school drive conducted at Karnataka Public School, Kuvempunagar, Mysore, was a
resounding success. Over four days, we provided the 8th-grade students with comprehensive
insights into Nutrition Awareness, Health & Hygiene, Plastic Awareness, and Yodha Namana
(including the remarkable story of Captain Vikram Batra and the Kargil War). The interactive
and informative nature of the sessions left students inspired and motivated to make positive
changes in their lives and contribute to society.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the school, the students, and our dedicated team for
making this event a profound and impactful experience. We hope that the knowledge and
values imparted during this school drive will serve as a foundation for healthier, more
environmentally conscious, and patriotic citizens in the futu

NMMS exam preparation training program for class 8

####### TH

students

The Central Sector Scheme ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’ was launched
in 2008, after getting approval from CCEA, with the objective to award scholarships to
meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out at class VIII
and encourage them to continue their education at secondary stage. One lakh fresh
scholarships are awarded to selected students of class IX every year and their continuation /
renewal in classes X to XII for study in State Government, Government-aided and Local
body schools under the scheme. The amount of scholarship is Rs. 12000/- per annum from
1st April 2017 (earlier it was Rs. 6000/- per annum).

####### The Cabinet has approved continuation of the Scheme from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26 with total

####### allocation of Rs crores.

####### Eligibility criteria:

Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum
are eligible to avail the scholarship. The students must have minimum of 55 % marks or
equivalent grade in Class VII examination for appearing in selection test for award of
scholarship (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students). The students should be studying as
regular student in a Government, Government- aided and local body school. Students of
NVS, KVS and residential schools are not entitled for the scholarship. There is reservation as
per State Government norms

####### Selection of fresh Awardee Students:

Each State/UT conducts its own test for selection of students for the award of the National
Means-cum-Merit Scholarship. The test is conducted at stage of class-
VIII. The students, who fulfill the eligibility criteria, must pass both the tests, i., Mental
Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) under NMMSS exam
with at least 40 % marks in aggregate taken together for these two tests. For the SC/ST
students, this cut off is 32% marks.

####### Selection of Renewal Awardees Students:

The awardees should get minimum of 60% marks in Class X for continuation of scholarship
(relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) in next higher classes For continuing the
scholarship in class X and XII, the awardees should get clear promotion form class IX to
class X and from class XI to class XII in the first attempt
Disbursal of Scholarship:
The scheme is fully on boarded on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) from 2018-19. The
Ministry sanctions funds from Annual Budget Provision for releasing themto SBI, the
implementing bank for scheme for disbursal of scholarships to students directly into
Route Planning: Organizers plan a designated walking route, ensuring safety and
accessibility for participants. This route can be through city streets, parks, or scenic areas.
Promotion: Marketing and promotion activities are carried out to attract participants and
sponsors. Social media, posters, and community outreach help spread the word.
Logistics: Organizers manage logistical aspects such as event timing, water stations along
the route, medical support, and participant check-in.
Fundraising: Walkathons are often associated with fundraising for charitable causes.
Participants may collect donations or pledges from sponsors, contributing to the overall
goal.
T-Shirts and Merchandise: Participants are often provided with event-specific T- shirts or
merchandise to create a sense of unity and identity.
Event Day Activities: On the day of the walkathon, participants gather at a specified starting
point. Opening ceremonies, speeches, or warm-up exercises may precede the walk.
Post-Walk Activities: After completing the walk, participants may engage in post- event
activities, such as award ceremonies, entertainment, or additional fundraising efforts

3 ENRICHMENT SESSION:
Resource Person: Bhaskar Keshavmurthy, Head - Corporate Relations, Youth for
SevaLocation: Ramakrishna Institute of Moral Science & Education Center, Mysore
Bhaskar Keshavmurthy, Head - Corporate Relations, Youth for Seva, conducted an
enrichment
session on "CSR Funding" at Ramakrishna Institute of Moral Science & Education Center,
Mysore
Mr. Keshavmurthy began the session by explaining the concept of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR). He defined CSR as the obligation of businesses to contribute to the
sustainable development of society by delivering economic, social, and environmental
benefits.
Mr. Keshavmurthy then discussed the importance of CSR funding in supporting sustainable
development initiatives. He highlighted how CSR funding can help to address a wide range
of social challenges, such as poverty, education, healthcare, and environmental protection.
He also discussed the various ways in which companies can contribute to CSR funding. He
explained that companies can either directly fund CSR initiatives or partner with non-
governmental organizations (NGOs) and other social enterprises to implement CSR
projects..
Mr. Keshavmurthy then shared some examples of successful CSR initiatives in India. He
highlighted the work of Youth for Seva, an NGO that works to empower rural communities
through sustainable development initiatives. He also discussed the CSR initiatives ofsome of
India's leading companies, such as Tata Group, Infosys, and Mahindra & Mahindra.
During the Q&A session, Mr. Keshavmurthy answered a variety of questions from the
participants on topics such as the role of CSR in sustainable development, the different ways
in which companies can contribute to CSR funding, and the challenges and opportunities of
CSR implementation in India.
