Relate to case (RTC) = match evidence in case & requirement

  • How? Impact to organisation
  • Recommendation – ONLY when required
  1. What could you do to excel in SBL?
    • Refer to 10 things to learn - Examiner article – 2 marks for well-developed points
    • To get any mark you must do more than just state some knowledge or just some points from exhibits.
    • Knowledge must be applied in the context of the case. Points from the exhibits must be explained in terms of the relevance of the requirements.
    • Don’t repeat points in the same requirement.
    • Paraphrase. Don’t copy & paste the text and exhibit. Examiners don’t like to see their words in answer script.
    • Make the job of examiners easy! By doing the above.
    • If you can’t get the full technical marks, please aim at least for 50% to pass -70% to buffer.
    • Reverse fishing – when revising case. Points in answer scheme and find where the point is in the exhibit. In future you will know where to look for in different case. This kind of trend will repeat itself.
    • Prepare own answer and compare it to answer scheme in suggested solution.

Sean Purcell – How to Earn More Marks in SBL

Some of the reasons why student fail marginally 47% and above.

  • Not writing enough due to poor time-management
  • Not breaking down the question

What markers do not like to see

  • Students give 4 pages for 4 marks
  • No bullet points. Give well explain sentence instead
  • Misread question

SBL = behaviour in workplace. It is an applied skill. You don’t share/tell model name to your office in meeting. The function of model is for secret tool of strategic consultant. In paper of consultant, they don’t mention the name of model. U can put in answer plan but don’t reveal it in full answer.

What should a sentence be to gain mark = So what? Why? The consequence?
