6 Tyre rotation

in general contribute towards a shorter vehicle tyre life. To achieve uniform tyre wear and longer life,

it is recommended that tyres be rotated periodically.

6 Wheel alignment and balance

Achieve driving conditions and poor driving habits can cause wheels to go out of alignment and

balance. Maintaining the correct wheel alignment and balance will provide better handling, improved

ride comfort and longer tyre life.

6 Fuel system cleaning/correct fuel specified

Contaminants can sometimes enter the fuel system from external sources. Should this occur, the

fuel system must be drained and filters replaced to restore proper engine performance. You are

advised to take extra care to use specified fuel at all times.

6 Spark plugs

These items are subject to wear and tear or carbon build-up. For maximum performance and

economy, they should be checked periodically and replaced at specified times.

6 Fuel and air filters

It is important to maintain and replace fuel and air filters at recommended regular intervals to ensure

they are capable of fulfilling their important function i. to clean fuel and air for the engine. In severe

operating conditions, replacement should be more frequent than recommended for normal operation.

6 Wiper baldes

The life of windscreen wiper blades are dependent on the amount of use and climatic conditions.

For safety reasons, these items should be replaced when wear impairs their function to clear the

windscreen effectively.

6 Bulbs and fuses

Electrical light bulbs, fuses and lamp glasses should be replaced upon failure.

6 Engine Coolant

Please consult your nearest UMW Toyota Motor authorised dealers' Service Centre for the specified

coolant additives and concentrations required by your Toyota. These must be maintained at recommended

levels to prevent corrosion and erosion.

6 Battery Maintenance

A battery only requires a little monthly maintenance to perform perfectly. Keep the battery charged to

100%, recharging when the lights dim, the starter sounds weak, or the Toyota vehicle and/or battery

has not been used in more than two weeks. Other than that, follow this simple checklist every month:

  • Check the electrolyte level, and top up accordingly with battery water.
  • Check cables, clamps, and terminals for obvious oxidation formation or loose connections.

6 Sports Bar

The design of the “Sports Bar” is purely for aesthetics purpose rather than as a safety feature. The

Manufacturer excludes any liability for damages, losses, or injuries that may result from the misuse

or abuse of the “Sports Bar”.

6 Navigation system update

The Navigation System in the vehicle is designed to assist in locating an address or point of interest.

Discrepancies may be encountered between the system and your actual location due to inherent

software limitation and restrictions. Always practice good judgment when following navigation

system guidance when following a specified route. The map information may not fully cover all areas/

countries. Please see your Navigation System Owner's Manual for further details.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

  • Pull safety off the road, stop your Toyota vehicle and turn on your emergency flashers. Put the transmission

in ‘P’ for automatic or neutral for manual and apply the parking brake. Turn off the air-conditioner.

  • If the coolant or steam is boiling out of the radiator or reservoir, stop the engine. Wait until the steam subsides

before opening the hood. If these is no coolant boiling over or steam, leave the engine running.

  • Visually check (don‘t touch) to see if the engine drive belt (fan belt) is broken or loose. Look for obvious

coolant leaks from the radiator, hoses, and under the Toyota vehicle. However, note that water draining

from air-conditioner is normal if it has been used.

  • If the engine drive belt is broken or the coolant is leaking, stop the engine immediately. Call the nearest

UMW Toyota Motor authorised dealers' Service Centre for assistance.

  • If the engine drive belt is fine and there are no obvious leaks, you may help the engine cool down more

quickly by running it at about 1500 rpm for a few minutes with the accellerator pedal lightly depressed.

  • Check the coolant reservoir. If it is dry, add coolant to the reservoir while the engine is running. Fill it about

half full.

After the engine coolant temperature has cooled to normal, again check the coolant level in the reservoir. If

necessary, bring it up to half again. Serious coolant loss indicates a leak in the system. You should have it

checked as soon as possible at your nearest UMW Toyota Motor authorised dealers' Service Centre.

IF YOU HAVE A FLAT TYRE

1. Reduce your speed gradually, keeping straight line. Cautiously, move off the road to a safe place away

from the traffic. Avoid stopping on the center divider of a highway. Park on a level spot with firm ground.

2. Stop the engine and turn on your emergency flashers.

3. Set the parking brake and shift the transmission in ‘P’ (auto) or ‘Reverse’ (manual).

4. Have everyone get out of the Toyota vehicle on the other side away from traffic.

5. Please refer to your Owner’s Manual for flat tyre replacement instructions.

Note: Never continue driving with a deflated tyre. Even a short distance of continuous driving can damage a tyre

and wheel beyond repair.

WINDSCREEN BREAKAGE

  • If the windscreen breaks, stop your Toyota immediately.
  • Clean off as much of the loose glass as possible so as to prevent any splinter from getting into your eyes.
  • Use a damp cloth or tissue to wipe off any powdered glass that may have settled on the dashboard, seat

of floorboard.

  • If you need to drive without a windscreen, wind up all your windows to minimise air coming into the Toyota.
  • Keep at low speed and wear a pair of spectacles.

To help avoid personal injury, keep the hood closed until there is no steam. Escaping steam or

coolant is a sign of very high pressure.

Do not attempt to remove the radiator cap when the engine and radiator are hot. Serious injury

could result from scalding hot fluid and steam blown out under pressure.

When the engine is running, keep hands and clothing away from moving fan and engine drive belts.

STEPS TO TAKE IN AN EMERGENCY

The first rule of thumb is, do not panic. Take a deep breath and think rationally. Here are some step by step guide

of what to do in an emergency.
