Statement of the problem:

This correlational quantitative study aims to examine the effects of lack of gadget on the academic performance of the selected High School students in Awao National High School. This sought to answer the following specific questions.

  1. How does the lack of gadget affect students in terms of; 1 Learning 1 Interaction with teacher 1 Outcome
  2. What is the level of the Academic Performance of the selected High School students in ANHS?
  3. Is there any significant relationship between the insufficient gadget in the Academic Performance of selected High School students in ANHS?

Chapter 1

1 Rationale

Academic concerns, which might include issues such as learning difficulties or disabilities, underachievement, lack of attention from teachers, and bullying, affect a number of students throughout their academic careers, from elementary school to college. Academic concerns may influence a student’s performance in the classroom negatively, but they are also likely to have a significant effect on other areas of life, often placing undue stress on a child and interfering with home, work, and play dimensions. A student who experiences some

type of academic concern may benefit from speaking to a mental health professional. Academic performance is the outcome of students’ effort in examinations. Students’ academic performance is determined by a number of factors (Eze et al. 2016). Academic performance is measured by the average marks of the previous semesters and the total average marks.

Gadgets play important role in the field of teaching and learning. It is one way of imparting knowledge to the pupils. It can enhance their intellectual aspect as they engage in different types of gadgets. The use of this kind of material helps a lot in the field of education. It can make teaching and learning enjoyable and easy to apply. It can solve problems much easier than the usual way. The use of these gadgets makes everyone feel that they belonged to this world of change where everyone feels comfortable in using technology.

Lack of gadget can affect the academic performance of students because some activities in modules needed a gadget and internet connection in order to answer it.

reasons. One of the reason is the lack of gadgets especially when the modular learning started, some students weren’t be able to interact with their teachers and answer their modules completely,

Awao National High School is a rural place which some students has low academic performance because of some because some activities really needed gadget and internet connection to answer it.
