  1. There are two different ways to approach instructional materials: adapting and adopting. It involves modifying or adjusting preexisting contents to fit a specific audience in order to adapt the materials to satisfy certain needs or requirements while adopting involves using the materials in their current state and without making significant alterations.
  2. TARGET SKILL OF THE MATERIAL The basis of a language learning is the target skill, whether it be reading, writing, listening, or speaking. We must put the lesson's target skills and objectives first when bringing in outside materials and customizing them for it. CLASS ENVIRONMENT The impact and usefulness of a resource for your pupils can vary depending on the number of students in your class or the environment of your classroom. LANGUAGE LEVEL Materials planning and design should focus on the language proficiency of the students. Materials must be assessed in regard to the language proficiency of the audience, whether they are altered or used in its original form. STRUCTURE AND DESIGN Structure and design can refer to the structure of the language in a material but this factor also refers to the layout and visual elements of the material.
  3. *In some cases, teachers may need to reduce the text or give definitions for difficult words if the original source of the information has complex terms that is challenging for learners to understand. Additionally, materials may be too simple or complex for students, so teachers must compensate for their language proficiency and modify the contents as necessary. Materials must be modified to reflect the various learning styles of students. For instance, diagrams or pictures may be helpful for visual learners, while audio recordings may be preferred by auditory learners. *There may be circumstances in which it is sufficient to use the original teaching materials. For instance, adaptation might not be required if the resources are already at the right language level and pertinent to the needs and interests of the learners. Additionally, adaption might not be necessary if the materials are already made to accommodate various learning styles.

For instance, materials with tasks, pictures, and exercises draw students' attention and aid in retaining and comprehending the meaning of the topic.
