DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH III

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the pupils are expected to:

  1. Identify the common punctuation marks
  2. Determine the correct/proper usage of punctuation mark
  3. Use appropriate punctuation marks in a sentence
  4. Participate in the class discussion actively

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Use appropriate Punctuation marks (e. period, comma, exclamation mark, question mark)

Reference: English 3

Materials: Pictures, Laptop, Projector, Chart

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities

1: The students read the words written on the flash cards. 1. Exclamatory 2. Declarative 3. Interrogative 4. Imperative

  1. Review: Let’s have a guessing game about the previous lesson about “The Adventure of the Animal Band”. Read the sentences and guess who said that and what the proper punctuation mark is 1 swam all day and all night. - Ratty 2 you like another adventure? - Horsey 3! My belly was hit by a sea-urchin. - Froggy

  2. Who knows how we can make one? - Doggy

  3. This morning the band played on the beach. - Carabao B. Developmental Activities

Watching videos about punctuation marks

Let the pupils identify each punctuation mark

  1. Discussion Punctuation marks are symbols that are used to aid the clarity and comprehension of written language.

Period(.) used at the end of the sentence and when we telling something or information. EXAMPLE: Jose Rizal is our national hero. Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean on earth.

It also when we make a command or request. EXAMPLE: Wash your hands properly. Please keep the door closed.

Comma (,) used to make pause between thoughts and also to list things. EXAMPLE: I like cookies, cupcakes and ice cream.

Question mark(?) used when we are asking a question. EXAMPLE: are COVID-19 vaccines safe? Who is the founder of facebook?

Exclamation point(!) use it when expressing a strong feelings EXAMPLE: Yay, I passed the exam! Ouch, my knee hurts!

  1. Guided Practice Use the appropriate punctuation mark in a sentence.

  2. Kindly give me a glass of water

  3. The boy is playing basketball

  4. What grade are you

  5. Happy birthday to you

  6. Do you know how to cook

  7. Application
