December 14, 2022 CHN Diary

December 12, 2022

I woke up early to get ready for our CHN duty in West District Health Center in Banay-banay. The meet up was at the college lobby at school. After waiting for sir Rhalf, we caught a ride going to Banay- banay where we were being awaited by our other groupmates Nicson and Ivan who lived much closer and did not intend to meet up at school. After meeting up with them, we went straight to the area and put our belongings in a safe place. We took our VS instruments and tools and took them to our stations. The boys were grouped together, me, Nicson, Ivan, and Aldrich. I forgot to mention that Aldrich joined our group because he could not join his group for their actual duty. We were stationed at the area where the free COVID vaccinations were given. There we took the blood pressure and temperature of the people who were going to receive the vaccine. Coincidentally, there was a giveaway of some sorts happening which involved representatives from the barangays included in the West District. Sir Rhalf instructed us to take the blood pressure of the participants of the event since we were free and not doing anything because no new patients have arrived. After the event, Jenina sang on the karaoke which was there for the Christmas party of the West District Health Center. We then went out for lunch and ate at LBN and when we got back to the health center we had “merienda” with the food served at the Christmas Party. After the merienda, sir Rhalf discussed the programs in the health district, and we had a pretest which ended our duty that day. We had to go back to school for CHN lec with Doc Barte.

Woke up early again, meet-up was at school. We waited for sir Rhalf at the parking lot near Chez Rafael. When sir Rhalf got to school, we all grouped together with most of the girls and Nicson rode with Margot in her car while sir Rhalf, Ivan, Aldrich, and Nina hitched a ride in my car. We went to McDo Tambo for a drive thru, may utang pa po ako kay sir through gcash ibabayad. Afterwards we went through Tambo to go to Tibig. Upon arriving in Tibig we picked up the BHW’s at the barangay hall and they directed us to purok 3. Purok 3 was a remote place and did not have concrete roads on the way there. Good thing the precipitation was not heavy at the time so not much difficulty was experienced going to the area. Upon arriving, we immediately started the interviews with the residents. Once we were finished, we decided to go through the exit closer to a concrete road which led to Tambo. I almost got stuck in the mud but luckily, we did not need to get pushed to move forward. Upon reaching the concrete road, we had to get down to assist in getting Margot’s car unstuck from the mud. With the help of some residents, we were able to push out the car. The endeavor had left my car with wheels with inadequate air pressure and me worried that the wheels were damaged. We ate lunch in sitio manggahan and I expressed worry that a tire change or patching of a hole may have been needed. So we went to a nearby vulcanizing shop to see if there was a need for any of that. Good thing it wasn’t, and we just had the air in the wheels adjusted so they all had equal air pressure. After that, we went back to purok 1 and joined the group again to start interviewing residents. After finishing with the interviews we went back to school where we tallied the results.
