Community Health Nursing Duty Diary #

Day 1 (12/12/2022)

On 1st day, another community duty again in the barangay banay banay, still the same set, taking vital signs from patients including the earlier information and history taking. We encountered a child patient with 3 singaw or lesions at the same time we heard about health teachings. We also gave a vaccine called tetanus because of our patient who had a wound on his arm. We felt sorry for the child girl patient because she was bitten by their dog and the dog had not yet been vaccinated, so the child had to be injected with anti-rabies and tetanus to avoid complications. We walk again for our lunch, it supposed to be on San Vicente like little restaurant and have a good ambience but unfortunately its close, so we have no choice to eat on LBN, it was expensive enough and it’s not worth it for me especially their dishes. Of course, it’s cloudy in the afternoon and luckily, we came back before its rain. Another thing is that there had like a Christmas party on health center and had an aid program, Christmas program something like that, but they don't lose their prepared foods, we're lucky every time we're on duty in the community because it's good timing that they always have food ready haha we were also embarrassed but we also ate in the end haha. After our duty, we go back to school to attend a CHN lecture with Doc Barte from 5pm-6pm, before that we ate a street food from villa Lourdes.

Day 2 (12/13/2022)

2nd day on Brgy Tibig again, all we do is interview from purok uno and purok 3 ginebra, instead that we traveled, Ben and Margot brought a car for a road trip haha together with 2 barangay health workers, maybe we were exhausted more to travel and walk a long way HAHAHAHAHAHA. It is heartbreaking and sad at the same time we interrogated since based on my interviewed, they only finished elementary level, not yet married, have many children, lack of knowledge, nutritional and health status especially lack of financial support. If I have a chance to help them, I will educate them on how to appropriate teaching for family planning, the importance of nutritional mainly to the children as well as their health condition, and then give a chance to have skill to go to work on their career to have sufficient financial for the family. It is sad, but we have no choice because it’s their life. Of course, our lunch is from mcdo take out from tambo haha as usual. Unfortunately, again cause my favorite chicken nuggets are not available yet so I have no choice to order which is chicken fillet with rice and gravy, additionally medium fries. After lunch, we interviewed another in purok uno luckily it didn’t rain because earlier morning it have a little rain. Now I know that education is important to us especially to the children. If I can help them, my first priorities are to give them an education and give a better life and health on individuals. One thing is Margot’s car got stuck because of mud and our teams help together with 2 barangay workers and sir rhalf haha. And ben’s car wheels got like soft and had a little hole, so it must fix it and it is fixed by chance before we finish our duty. It was really fun especially the roadtrip haha.
