By that circumstances, the Department of Education implemented K-12 curriculum that aims to provide a comprehensive and well-rounded education to students. The K- curriculum is an educational framework that covers the primary and secondary education levels, from kindergarten (K) to grade 12. For me, I stand with the idea of implementation of such curriculum to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, prepares students for higher education, promotes critical thinking, creativity, and abilities. When problem-solving. From my experiences under K-12 Curriculum, when I graduated in 10th grade, I am still computer illiterate and lacks confidence in reporting and I don’t even know how to solve algebraic expressions and feels like I am still not ready for the next step of my education journey. But everything changes after I graduate at 12th grade. I took GAS Strand which it really helped me to shape my knowledge and skills and prepared me for higher grade level. I now can perform basic computer functions, can report confidently, can solve complex algebraic expressions, and broaden my vocabulary, K-12 really change me to be prepared for the next step of my education journey. I am really in favor of having K-12 Curriculum because there are still students who are in higher grade yet still don't know how to read, and solve, perform basic computer functions as I observed. Those kind of students should be necessarily catered to prepare and shaped them to a better version. On the other hand, K-12 Curriculum key advantages is its focus on preparing students for higher education and the workforce. By extending the basic education cycle, students have more time to develop essential skills, knowledge, and competencies. This extended period allows for a more in-depth exploration of subjects, enabling students to make informed choices about their future academic and career paths. The K-12 curriculum brings numerous advantages to the Philippine education system. By extending the basic education cycle, focusing on holistic development, offering specialized tracks, promoting global competitiveness, and facilitating recognition abroad, the K-12 curriculum equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the 21 st century. Name: John Paul Soriano Date: November 24, 2023 Subject: The Teacher and the Community, Instructor: Mrs. Otilla Misagal School Culture, and Organizational Leadership TERRORISM One of the global issues that is controversial nowadays was about terrorism. Terrorism encompasses violence or threats which aim to bring about fear among people or expose their lives, freedoms and security to danger and their money and properties to damage regardless of its motives and purposes. It is a hot issue recently about the war between Israel and Palestine that has been triggered because of the terrorist group called Hamas. From my personal views, terrorism, it greatly affects all the aspects of human life including lives, livelihood, infrastructures, and global harmony. Lots of innocent people and children are being drag into this and unfortunately, some lost their lives. How long people will realize that no one can win in war because they all lost some lives. The most tragic consequence of terrorism is the loss of innocent lives. Terrorist attacks indiscriminately target civilians, causing death and injury on a large scale. The emotional trauma and grief experienced by the families and friends of the victims are immeasurable, leaving lasting scars on individuals and communities. Just like what I saw on TV, Israelites and Palestinians children are suffering, no food, water, and shelter. Their way of living is so sad and poor. Additionally, terrorisms instills fear and anxiety within societies, creating a pervasive sense of insecurity. Witnessing or experiencing a terrorist attack can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, depression, and other psychological traumas. The fear of future attacks can significantly impact people’s daily lives, limiting their freedom and sense of well-being. Lastly, terrorism disrupts economic stability and development. Attacks on critical infrastructure, such as transportation systems, businesses, and tourist destinations, can lead to significant financial losses resulting in job losses, reduced opportunities, and increased poverty. As a student, there are several ways I can contribute in addressing terrorism. First educate others about the root causes, ideologies, and consequences of terrorism. Stay informed about global events and conflicts. I would my knowledge with others to raise awareness and promote understanding. Then, promote tolerance and inclusivity to foster a culture of tolerance, respect, and inclusivity within your school and community. Reject stereotypes and prejudices, and encourage dialogue and empathy among your peers. Lastly, support victims and affected communities: Show solidarity and support for victims of terrorism and their families. Engage in fundraising activities or volunteer for organizations that provide assistance and support to affected communities. To wrap things up, terrorism remains a significant challenge that demands a comprehensive and multifaceted response. By understanding the root causes, consequences, and motivations behind terrorism, we can develop effective strategies for countering this threat. Through intelligence sharing, addressing root causes, enhancing security measures, and fostering international cooperation, we can work towards a safer and more peaceful world, free from the grip of terrorism.
