Directions: Answer the questions and Activities based on the topic discussed and
understanding.
1. What are nanomaterials and how are they made?
➢ Nanomaterials can occur naturally, be created as the by-products of
combustion reactions, or be produced purposefully through engineering
to perform a specialized function. These materials can have different
physical and chemical properties to their bulk-form counterparts.
2. What are the factors that need to be considered before manufacturing
materials through nanotechnology?
➢ Several factors such as the method used for synthesis, pH, temperature,
pressure, time, particle size, pore size, environment, and proximity greatly
influence the quality and quantity of the synthesized nanoparticles and
their characterization and applications.
3. What are the contributions of nanotechnology for the improvement and
sustainability of our environment?
➢ It can yield a new generation of nanomembranes for the separation of
water contaminants by removing and reducing water contaminants.
➢ Nanotechnology-based solutions can remove radioactive waste.
4. How do you describe Nanotechnology?
➢ Nanotechnology is a branch of science and technology that deals with
dimensions of less than 100 nanometers, especially for the manipulation of
individual atoms and molecules.
5. Have you ever seen a nanomaterial? What is it? What material you used?
➢ Nanomaterials can also be added to cement, cloth and other materials
to make them stronger and yet lighter. Their size makes them extremely
useful in electronics, and they can also be used in environmental
remediation or clean-up to bind with and neutralize toxins.
6. Is nanotechnology helpful in this society or not? Explain to us why.
➢ Nanotechnology might help us make electrical lines, solar cells, and
biofuels more efficient, and make nuclear reactors safer. Nanotechnology
might lead to huge advances in health care, improving methods for
detecting and treating diseases like cancer.
7. Give a sample product made from a nanomaterial.
➢ Coatings, Cement, and Paints.
