ART ANALYSIS: THE PARISIAN LIFE BY JUAN LUNA
DESCRIPTION:
The artwork shown is made by the famous painter Juan Luna. The artwork shows a
wonderful woman in a nice dress and there are also three men in the corner of the artwork. The
medium used in the art is paintings with different colour that depicts the true life in the Parisan.
The Girl who wears a nice dress could be seen as a beautiful and elegant woman who wants to
attract the three men in the corner. She may be deceive those men by representing herself as a
good woman but she actually hides a secret where she wants to be held by those men’s arms.
Juan luna could be one of those men and the two men could be his friends and they are in their
vacation.
Analysis
This artwork shows an artistic approach emphasizing the colors as is. The unique colors
of the art have become its visible way to express the artist’s message that wanted to convey with
its audiences. As what the artist have painted, a very classy type of woman shown how the
women with high level of life in the society live. The men staring at her and seems to have
interest over the woman but it feels like the woman doesn’t care and ignore those uneasy eyes.
This reflects how the society works between men and women. The luxury look of a woman tend
to catch every man’s eye which essentially reflecting the truth that men knows how women
move. And as how men look at her seems like they are looking at her with unnecessary
judgement
Interpretation
My interpretation in this artwork is representing how our society works and how men
perceive women in different dress. Those women who wear casual or formal dresses are seem to
be respectable that those women who wear revealing clothes. My second interpretation would be,
men sometimes wrongfully judging women the way girls express themselves in terms of wearing
dresses. Those three men on the painting portrayed as people who were making “boys talk” just
because they find that girls like on the painting are pushover. However, there are women like in
the picture that try to capture the attention of men not because they love them it is because of
their monetary possession like money and other things.
