our lessons. We also encountered that the daycare room which we used has no elitricity and there was

no teacher available that serves as the barrier for them to learn.

We noticed a variety of student behaviors as our project SMILE was actually put into practice.

They were extremely gracious and welcoming. They are appreciative for all the gifts they have received,

including the snacks, cash prizes, and school supplies.

We left the session feeling exhausted, but we did so with a SMILE on our faces. Smile of

satisfaction and happy memories we shared with the kids. Although our session may not have been

perfect, we are confident that we have given the children some knowledge that they can use as they get

older. Their abilities have improved, and they have acquired positive attitudes. Not only did we instruct

them, but we also motivated them. Our dream is for those children to one day be the ones taking part in

initiatives that will improve their neighborhood. Similar to what Sir Mike Tiongson said, being a role

model entails taking the initiative first; from there, others will do the same. If you care about your

community, then the other will.

I can claim that we met our goals because I am confident that we left a lesson for the students we

taught when we left the grant. We taught them how to read, write, count, and comprehend, but

most significantly, we instilled in them a respect to their elders. Although it was really exhausting, I

don’t regret signing up for and participating in this program. Even if it is exhausting, the teachings we

can impart to the youth in Gawad Kalinga are worth it.

3. What will be your next project?

If I were to conduct a project, I would work on a feeding program A feeding program that aims to

provide augmentation support through program for homeless children venture that will foster care

and love for the street childrens. To alleviate hunger within them and to address the issue of child

malnutrition, the implementation of a feeding program that provides people free nutritious meals to

reduce the rate of malnutrition and became a major solution to this matter.
