  1. How can you identify the different farm tools and equipment?

Suggested Answer: Farm tools and equipment are identified according to its uses and classification example are; Digging tools, cutting tools, harvesting tools, measuring tools, Farm implements and simple equipment.

 

  1. What are the common do’s and don’ts with regards to the used of tools?

Suggested Answer: The do’s and don’ts of using tools are the following; chose the right tool that will serve your purpose, carry the tools properly, used tools as working aids not toys, clean the tools after using, dry the tools before storing and always observed safety precautions in handling tools.

 

  1. Describe the good characteristic of area where you can put-up a nursery building?

Suggested Answer: The ideal characteristics of a Plant nursery are; it should be having a sufficient source of water/availability of irrigation water, Free from water logging and well-drained soil/field, away from trees/structures to avoid shading, presence of wind breakers (buffer-zone), the nursery site must be accessible by road. It must not be far from potential markets so that there is no damage to the seedlings during transportation.

 

  1. What are the characteristic of good quality seeds?

Suggested Answer: The characteristic of good quality seeds is good seed should be viable, good seed must be fully matured, good seed usually fresh, should be free from seed borne diseases, good seed should be true-to-type, good seed should be damage free, good seed should be free from weed seed other foreign materials.

 

  1. How do you safely prepare propagating materials? Suggested answer: In preparing propagating material like seeds, seedlings and cuttings, appropriate tools must be used applying as well as observing OHS

 

  1. How do you avoid contamination from propagating materials? Suggested answer: To avoid contamination from seedlings/cuttings, clean tools to be used for collecting and preparing these propagating materials. Perform sanitation and sterilization of tools after the activity.

 

RULES AND REGULATION QUESTIONS

  1. What laws and regulation that implement the improving of mechanization in our country? Suggested Answer: The Republic Act No. 10601 AN ACT PROMOTING AGRICULTURAL AND FISHERIES MECHANIZATION DEVELOPMENT IN THE COUNTRY.

 

  1. What is Republic Act 7607 all about? Suggested answer: RA 7607, also known as the "Magna Carta of Small Farmers" was signed into law on June 4, 1992. The Magna Carta of Small Farmers is a creditable law aimed at improving the lives of the small farmers by empowering them and harnessing their potentials and abilities.

 

  1. What is the related law on the collection propagating materials? Suggested answer: Collecting and trading of wildlife species including plants, especially those that are threatened, rare and endangered without securing a permit from the DENR, is illegal and punishable under provisions of the RA 9147, also known as the Wildlife Act of 2001. - DENR PENRO Marinduque.

 

CONTINGENCY QUESTIONS

  1. Why is it important to have a nursery house? Suggested Answer: Nursery house is important because it serve as the temporary shade of rootstock and seedling materials before planting to the field, it also helps to maintain the greenery of the vicinity and they help retain the climates in the cities. They also play a key role in controlling air and water pollution in cities. Additionally, nursery helps in maintaining the natural lifecycle where the beneficial animals & insects can survive.

 

  1. Why do farmers prefer to use good quality seeds? Suggested answer: The farmers prefer the good quality because of its improved traits such as better yield, pest resistance, drought tolerance, herbicide tolerance and high return per unit area as the genetic potentiality of the crop can be fully exploited.

 

  1. Why does farmer need to practice seed dormancy and why is it seed dormancy important? Suggested answer: Seed dormancy is the temporary inability of a viable seed to germinate under favorable environmental conditions it is therefore important for plant ecology and agriculture. Several processes are known to be involved in the induction of dormancy and in the switch from the dormant to the germinating state

 

JOB ROLE/ EVENTS QUESTIONS

  1. Why is it important to conduct maintenance checklist of farm tools and buildings? Suggested answer: Maintenance checklist is important in the farm avoid unnecessary events or accidents in workplace or area. Its conducted to buildings, in the workshop, in the machineries for repair and tools.

 

  1. What is soil sterilization? Cite methods. Suggested answer: It is a procedure by which several methods of applying heat are used to render soil living organism that is capable of destroying plants and causing disease in the soil to inactive, impotent or unproductive. Examples include solar sterilization, frying and steaming

 

  1. What will you do to manage the irrigation for water efficiency inside the nursery house? Suggested answer: The water management inside the nursery house is very essentials it can be done by determining the soil type, determining the weekly precipitation amounts by installing gauge in central location, monitor soil moisture to determine whether irrigation, measure the out from irrigation device, and combine the information above to determine a week by week irrigation.

lower portion (the understock) becomes the root system or part of the trunk. 11. It is necessary to have the basic information with regard to quality of irrigation water to assess its effect on the soils and plant nursery. 12. Low efficiency of traditional irrigation system is linked to the great quantity of water lost during irrigation, because the quality of water supplied is larger than the plant absorption and soil retention capacities. 13. Overhead irrigation localizes the water directly to the roots system are thus wetting only a portion of the soil. 14. The function of drip emitters is to reduce the pressure inside the pipes by dispensing little quantities of water. This can be achieved in most cases by means of labyrinth inside the drip emitter. 15. In order to efficiently apply water to the root zone, estimate the water demand base on the soil type, precipitation, crop needs and soil moisture retention.
