Teachers Guide Question

  1. What have you notice in our activity? Our topic for today is all about Multiplication and division of Fraction.

Multiplication and Division of the Rational Numbers

  • To multiply rational numbers, multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators.
  • To divide by a rational number, multiply the dividend by the multiplicative inverse or reciprocal of the divisor.
  1. The teacher will show example of multiplying and dividing fraction on the board. Example on Multiplication: 9/16 * 3/5 = 27/80 3/8 * 5/6 = 15/48 =5/ 6/7 * 21/22 * 4/9 = 504/1386 = 4/ Example on Division: 8/9 5/4 = 8/9 * 4/5 = 32/

2/3 5/6 = 2/3 * 6/5 = 4/

  1. The teacher will give example of word problem solving related to multiplication and division of fraction. Example (Multiplication): Julie spent hours doing her assignment. Ken did his assignment for times as many hours as Julie did. How many hours did Ken spend doing his assignment? Hours

Example (Division): At the end of the day, a store had 2/5 of a cake leftover. The four employees each took home the same amount of leftover cake. How much of the cake did each employee take home? Of cake

  1. The teacher will ask the student on how the multiplication of fraction and division of fraction differ.
  2. The teacher will ask the students if they understand how to multiply and divide the fraction.

IV. Evaluation

1. = 4. =

2. 5.. =

3. 6.. =

7. A pizza is divided into 10 equal slices. Kim ate of of the pizza. What part of the whole pizza

did Kim eat?
