Reflection on the Fifth Day of INSET (March 19, 2021)

In the morning session, the first speaker Ms. Aprellene Marquez tackled about the Digital Poetry. Digital Poetry refers to the combination audio, text and images. Also, she discussed its significance. It is important since it encourages the teachers and students to be creative and to collaborate. She also instructed all the teachers to at least try to collaborate through Google Docs. In fact, she gave a title of a poem so that teachers could collaborate. Lastly, she ended her talk by a quote which says "If you want our children to be reflective on the way we wanted to be, awake their hearts with the language of compassion." As a teacher we should be compassionate to our students in able for them to be reflective and compassionate as well.

To end the morning session, Ms. Maria May Sevilla discussed about Technology Integration & Instructional Materials/Development in Preparation in English Language. She discussed different Instructional Models in Technology Integration such as TPACK and TIM that can be used to improve content and pedagogy of the teachers. Teachers should adapt on these technological advancements so that they may improve the learning process of the students.

Ms. Rubilyn Pastrano started the afternoon session by discussing the Hour of Code website. This website aims to help not only teachers but students who have no or little knowledge about programming. This website is easy to access and it has a collection of video tutorials on how to code. Also, she cited the importance of the inclusion of Computer Science to be grasp by our students. This should be embedded in the curriculum for the students to learn about this.

To officially closed the Day 5, Mr. Glenny Laping have tackled about creating animation through Scratch. Scratch is a real programming language that allows the user to create their own animation. This animation consists of sequence of images and motions of objects to create a video.

Thus, this 5-day INSET was enriching and empowering.
