● Give the lesson title and its objectives.

● Ask the learners – “Who among you can still recall if what is fact

and what is an opinion?”

4. Activity/ Strategy: Fact or Opinion

 Choose 8 students in this activity.

 Play the video “Fact or Opinion fitness”. The video will show

statements of facts and opinions.

Instructions:

1. A statement will be shown on the video.

2. Each participant has only 10 seconds to decide if they think the

statement is a FACT or an OPINION

3. Once they make a decision, the participant will do the move/dance

shown in the video underneath their choice.

How about the other sentence? Yes, it is an opinion.

Opinion is what you think or feel and it can’t be proven.

Fact is something which can be verified with evidences and is provable,

observable and measurable. That statement was proven to be a reliable

authority of information such as based on statistics, scientific law, history

book and others.

On the other hand, opinion is something which can’t be proven, and they

are based on someone’s thoughts, feelings and understanding.

Application

The students will be divided into groups. They will give an example of fact

and opinion and explain why it is called fact or opinion. Then, the students

have the option of selecting who will present their examples based on

their group.

4. Assessment:

Identify if the statement is FACT or OPINION. Write F if the statement is

FACT, and O if the statement is OPINION.

1. Teodoro Valencia was the park commissioner in-charge of Rizal Park.

2. Rizal Park is one of the most beautiful parks of its kind in the world.

3. It has a big playground, smooth skating rinks, and inviting bicycle lanes

4. Families enjoy picnics on the clean, thick grass.
