Designing Wireless Network Infrastructure of Our Lady of

Guadalupe Academy (Sevilla)

In Partial Fulfilment Of the Requirements for Networking 2 (Case Study)

Chapter 1 Introduction

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY In the modern day, the academic and research missions of public universities and colleges heavily rely on the Internet. The capacity to use the internet to access the web is essential. With the power of cloud computing, data science, and the internet of things, it will

soon be a necessity for today's generation rather than just a want. With just one click, everyone will have access to the information they need, whenever they need it. The Internet has become a permanent trend and almost controls all facets of schooling. Students of this generation rely on the Internet in making projects, doing research, for entertainment and even for generating extra income. Universities and colleges are evolving through the integration of information technology in their processes According to the SANS Institute, network security is the process of taking preventative measures to protect the underlying networking infrastructure from unauthorized access, misuse, malfunction, modification, destruction or improper disclosure. Implementing these measures allows computers, users and programs to perform their permitted critical functions within a secure environment. Securing a network requires a complex combination of hardware devices, such as routers, firewalls and anti-malware software applications. Government agencies and businesses employ highly skilled information security analysts to implement security plans and constantly monitor the efficacy of these plans.

In addition a network Is defined as the connection of at least two computer systems, either by a cable or a wireless connection. The simplest network is a combination of two computers connected by a cable. This type of network is called a peer-to-peer network. There is no hierarchy in this network; both participants have equal privileges. Each computer has access to the data of the other device and can share resources such as disk space, applications or peripheral devices (printers, etc.). Today’s networks tend to be a bit more complex and don’t just consist of two computers. Systems with more than ten participants usually use client- server networks. In these networks, a central computer (server) provides resources to the other participants in the network (clients).

According to TechTarget (2022) Computer networks operate using a varying set of hardware and software. All packet-switched networks use Transmission Control Protocol/Internet

unique mix of project management and technical skill. To help you nail your next network design project, we’ll take a deep dive on the topic, provide a basic framework you can follow, and look at some best practices to keep in mind as you go. Network design starts with identifying business and technical requirements and continues until just before the network implementation stage (when you actually do the work to deploy and configure what was designed). Network design includes things like network analysis, IP addressing, hardware selection, and implementation planning. According to Dorward, S.,Venti (2002) In network design, availability of the store information is dependent on the storage system in which it is stored and the online connectivity of those systems. In attached disk systems, the two factors show sufficient reliability and users need only to handle the issue of availability in an ad hoc manner when making regular backups

According to Annas Jan (2020) Network design is the planning phase of implementing computer network infrastructure. It involves analyzing and identifying how effectively all the elements of an IT network can be linked together (from switches, routers, and servers to laptops, scanners and desktop pcs) to optimize operational efficiency. Network designing is usually performed by IT administrators, network designers, and other talent from the relevant field. Network design should be drawn out as a network diagram, which then becomes a guide for the engineers when they come to install it. A number of aspects are needed to be covered by your network infrastructure design. Network designing is not only about planning the hardware. It is important to understand that every new software you deploy will affect the performance of the network.

In addition (Sulaimon Adeniji Adebayo, 2012).Network security has to be designed to fit the needs of one organization network and not anyone else’s. For instance, a small sized law company would allow access to case information for authorized users on the outside of

the network, and at the same time ensure that full access to the internet is always available to staff on the inside of the network, in other cases to access a case file from the office or on the road. Good network security protects a network in a manner that is consistent with its purpose and precautions must be taken when choosing a network provider for an organization especially one like a law firm.

According to (Ajala Funmilola and Akanbi Oluwafemi, 2015).Network security has become more important to personal computer users, organizations, and the military. With the advent of the internet, security became a major concern and the history of security allows a better understanding of the emergence of security technology. The internet structure itself allowed for many security threats to occur. The architecture of the internet, when modified can reduce the possible attacks that can be sent across the network.

Designing Network is a complicated process involving evaluating and scoping the network to be implemented. The design process is typically depicted in the form of a network diagram, which is the blueprint for the physical implementation of the network. Designing Network will typically include the cabling structure, a logical map of the network to be implemented, the quantity of network devices, the type of network devices, the location of network devices, the IP addressing structure, and the network security architecture. So far, this guide has answered the questions of what network design is and why it’s important. If you’re looking for further network design help, employing appropriate network design tools can make the process less time-consuming, more efficient, and more successful overall. Therefore, a good Network Infrastructure Design is very essential in reducing network congestion and maintaining the network in top performance. In addition Kit Hayes(July 2022), A properly planned network infrastructure design can bring many benefits to your business nowadays. With the help of technology and the right infrastructure design, it will be easier for you to reach your company’s specific goals in no

goals. The mission as follows. To enable learners to be witnesses to Christ, and committed participants in the renewal of the church and equipped workers for local, national and global development.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY This research study is believed to be of great help to the following individuals because of its significance: Institution. Insights can be given to the institution to help the researchers and to enhanced knowledge and skills acquired by the researchers can be applied to real-life scenarios. Researchers. They will ultimately learn how to manipulate Designing Network Infrastructure in an accurate way. It is also a big help to them because they will gain more knowledge base on the said study. Future Researchers. This is beneficial to them because they are given the opportunity to be involve in this study, have serve as their guide in the future use in a more interesting and creative way.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

In order to ensure that the consumers network connections are good and stable and that their devices operate appropriately, the researchers identify the requirements necessary to propose a solution in terms of access control in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy. The general information presented in this paper with general facts about wireless technology This study was limited on the Designing of Wireless Network Infrastructure of Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy (Sevilla) for the School Year 2022-2023. The information collected for this study was only true to respondents at hand.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITION OF TERMS The following terms are defined operationally according to how they were use in this study: Designing Network Infrastructure – is the practice of planning and designing a network, also refers to how network infrastructure is planned and structured. IP Schema – an address that is used to uniquely identify a device on an IP network OLGA (Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy) - this refers to the Catholic and Private Secondary Educational Institution where the respondents were enrolled and where the researchers conducted the study, located at Brgy. Sevilla, Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur. Network – A network consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources, exchange files, or allow electronic communications. Designing Wireless Network – this refers to the designing a wireless network requires a careful examination of a variety of design factor Institution – this refers to the establishment or corporation such as the Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy. Network Infrastructure – this refers to the collection of hardware and software that constitutes a particular network.
