(Western and Oriental Thoughts of self)

Write a reflective paragraph about Western and Oriental Thoughts of Self.

The collection of beliefs you have about yourself is known as your self concept. You should occasionally conduct activities like completing a phrase like "I am _________." five times in order to be aware of your self concept, because we are not always aware of our collective views about ourselves. It will assist us in understanding our schemas, or the basic components of our mind, thinking, and thoughts.

Filipinos and other Asians are more prone to identify oneself in terms of their relationships with others, such as "I go to school," "I am a member of my family," and "I love my parents." Westerners, on the other hand, are more prone to discuss personal qualities because they emphasize how distinct they are from other people, their uniqueness. Because being linked to others is less important to them than being unique. "I am smart," "I am responsible," and other similar phrases are more common among Westerners. There's nothing inherently wrong with those things, but I can understand how we, as Filipinos, vary from western culture.

Here in the east, there are some cultures that place a strong emphasis on family. Respect is extremely important in some cultures. Take, for example, Chinese or Japanese culture, where respect is extremely important. It's also about honor at times. For example, honor is vital to the Chinese, and they strive to honor their families in whatever they do. This is why they thrive in school and at work because they do not want to shame their families. So, in general, the community to which we belong helps us in comprehending how we define ourselves.
