In Let’s Try This , you have read a story about individuals who ended

identified and assigned to ensure performance and accomplishment of

goals.

In this lesson, we will talk about the different functional areas in

management: their roles, functions and responsibilities in the organization.

Understanding these different areas in management will enable you to

plan for a career path.

Human Resource Management (HRM)

Human Resource Management is a very important functional area in management primarily because organizations are composed of people (human resource). It is concerned with people-related issues and tasks in the organization. Its functions are found in the graph below.

Careers/Jobs in HRM:

 HR Manager  Recruitment Manager  Job Analyst  Compensation and Benefit Managers  Training and Development Managers  Training Specialists  Employee Relations Manager

Financial Management Finance is the “lifeblood of a business” because all organizations require financial resources in order to operate. Its functions are related to the management of money and other financial resources of the organization.

Information and Communications Technology Management This functional area of management is in-charge of the organization’s management information system. Information technology involves the use of computer applications and communications technology to gather, store, manage and transmit data. Information databases and systems are important for organizations. It enables them to access, and utilize relevant information about processes, personnel, clients, suppliers, and the market.
