“A purposeful journey towards excellence”

I always believe that excellence is never defined by being the best, but it is about considering your honor as a person while consistently doing your best. Doing things by using your good intention, sincere effort, skillful execution, and acting upon your vision is the right path in moving forward towards achieving excellence. But before reaching the greatness that we always aspire, there are so many things that we have to take in consideration and there are a lot of challenges that we need to surpass. We cannot deny the fact that the world is too cruel and too hard to handle because of our diversity. We have different perspectives, we have our own paces and timelines, we have our own ways, and we consider different factors in learning and in moving forward towards excellence. One of the most important things that we should always remember is the reason why we are aspiring to be excellent. Are you doing it solely for yourself or are you doing it for the benefit of the other people around you?

The theme: “Looking back and learning while moving forward towards achieving excellence,” is very timely and relevant to the current situation of our country or to the world. Yes, we are just mere students in the eyes of those powerful individuals who are blinded and deaf with the people’s shout for help. We are only seen by them as accountancy students who are just studying for the sake of getting a degree, who are just aspiring to be CPA, and who are just proving ourselves as academic achievers. Sometimes this stereotyping scenario is somehow true, because most of us become too busy of too much academic loads and slowly we became blinded with what is happening outside the four corners of our classroom. We forget that becoming an excellent individual cannot be proven without the validation of the people around us. So why don't we start proving to the people that we are excellent in our own ways also because of our purpose? We can look back to our past experiences, to our current situation, and to our future endeavors in moving forward toward excellence. With the current issues and problems that our country is facing today, we should use our voice in leading our countrymen towards living an excellent life. Today is the day to start becoming not only as an excellent student but as an excellent person. Whatever your reason is in aspiring to be excellent, you have to start practicing your excellence today. Because in the future we will all become public servants in practicing our excellency in our chosen fields by providing services to others. Let us use our learning in the past in making this world a better place to live in by the current and by the future generation. By simply taking part in planning on how to take actions to the rampant destructive issues our country or the world is facing today, we are already helping ourselves and others toward a progressive life. As long as we are using our past and our learning in contributing to the progress of our lives, then we can already say that you’re on the right track of moving towards excellence.

This 20th Regional Mid-Year Convention of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) of the Region V council is a way of showcasing our own skills while

immersing ourselves to the people around us who are in some ways have also the same ideals with us. The theme of this RMYC, “Emitting Radiance in the Paramountcy of Grandeur” has a hidden meaning that only ourselves can define within us. We can conquer the world especially if we reach the paramount of grandeur, but the question is how can we use our future success in emitting radiance today and in the future? We still have a lot to learn, but I believe that we already have the capacity to make an impact to the world. The theme is a reminder that the world is too big and the little competitions happening in this event are just baby steps in proving ourselves as an excellent individual. We can take our bigger steps only if we allow ourselves to start it today or wait until we reach the top before we emit radiance. At the end of the day, it is still our own choice on how we can have an effect to other people’s lives. But if our country or the world rather is already calling and asking for help from a person who aspires to be excellent, are going to decline it?

If you are starting today to emit radiance while moving forward towards excellence, just compare yourself to a mountaineer who is either aggressive or submissive to the obstacles he is facing while reaching the top. If you are the mountaineer who is submissive with what life is throwing at you, then just go with the flow. Do not ever lose your own stand and your honor while reaching your excellency. Always remember to put your honor above excellence, because by that you will vividly shine even if you’re still at your way towards reaching the peak of the mountain. At the time you reach the top, people will realize that dealing with your problems and making solutions to the life challenges calmly is a good answer to what we are currently worrying about. On the other hand, if you are an aggressive, a fighter or a go-getting mountaineer, you will prove to the world that standing despite how strong the storm is or fighting back against the cruel life challenges and whatever happens as long as you know how to resist distraction, this attitude will lead you to the top.

It doesn’t matter how you reach the top, how you become the best, how you become great or how you become excellent; it is all about the journey you took while moving forward. A meaningful journey means radiating a good impact, radiating your progress through your own purpose, and emitting radiance not because you want the world to see you just an excellent individual rather you want to let them see the struggling mountaineer that constantly radiates while on his way to the top, a mountaineer who offers help to his co-mountaineers, and a mountaineer who brightly shine upon reaching the top because he achieve excellency while using his heart.
