  • Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, hope you are all ready and excited to hear our team’s recommendations on improving Recruiting & Retaining practices specially for the recruitment of the new “Head of Department” for the new project “ HR Business Partners”.

  • Objective – as I have already mentioned, objective of this recommendation is to successfully recruit the New Department head for the HR Business partners project.

  • Company overview – just to remind you of ComBank and it’s impressive growth.

  • Human Resource Management – what is it and ComBank HRM highlights.

  • HR Practices at Combank.

  • Changing nature

  • Benchmarking. We have done a rapid benchmark against HSBC.

  • Finally Our recommendations on how we can improve the recruitment and retaining practices at ComBank.

And of-course the referrals.

  • We already know about our bank, but anyways, I want to just remind you all these achievements.

  • We are the largest Private bank in our country with more than 280 branches, and more with more than 5000 employees as of 2023. Combank has installed more than 700 ATM machines and Cash deposit machines all over the country. And now ComBank has expanded its service to Bangladesh, Myanmar and also Maldives!

  • As you can see we are well, established organization and we should be proud to be working here.

  • Let me also quickly remind you all about our company’s Vision & Mission statement.

  • Here are the chairman, board of directors, committees and consultants.

  • Here are the executive management and the committees. And our HR is here ( point it)

  • And we have other supporting sectors like personal banking and cooperate banking etc.

  • Here are some of the important Roles assigned to HR department in ComBank.

  • Resourcing or Recruiting. This is the most vital responsibility given to the HR department. When it comes to recruiting, there is a standard procedure to be followed by the HR mangers to make sure that they selects the right candidates at the right time to support the bank’s growth without effecting its daily routine and future plans.

  • Developing workplace policies gives employees the guidance, accountability and clarity on how they should act and behave. For example : Code of conduct, mobile phone policies, no-smoking policies, health and safety policies etc. ComBank HR has displayed graphical policies posters in the common places where it is visible for the employees.

  • Administering remuneration and Benefits: ComBank HR analyzes, manages and determines each employee’s salary, benefits and other remunerations. This process is very vital for employee retention strategy.

  • Retaining Talent: Remuneration and benefits are not the only strategies that keeps the employee retention rate high at ComBank. There are some other non-monetary strategies are in practice. Such as; Company’s annual trip, Gym membership, Public recognition etc.

  • Training & Developing: When department heads at ComBank notices a gap in an employee’s skills which are required to perform their duty better, they will directly request the HR Manager to organize a suitable training program to enhance the employee’s capabilities. Hence, HR department will analyze and choose the best options and conduct the training and development programs. For example : Managerial/leadership training, Soft skill training, Technical skills training etc..

  • Complying with regulations and policies : Government has imposed several strict regulations and laws on banking sectors. Therefore, the HR department has to always make sure the bank is conducting its business according to the government regulations and laws.

  • Maintaining safety: HR has to make sure all the working environment and conditions are safe for all it’s employees. Specially during the COVID 19 and post-pandemic period

ComBank carried out strict safety procedures through-out the company to minimize and avoid the COVID spread.

Now lets have a look into our HR department structure and try to understand what employees do, whom they report to and how decisions are made across ComBank management.

  • Managing director is the highest ranking person directly involved with the HR department at our Bank.

Apart from these we also have to take into account the existing HR Practices that the department follows in-order to improve our Recruitment and Retaining Process.

First of all, What is HR Practices?

It’s simply a set of processes and techniques that have been accepted by the ComBank committees to produce increased employee performance results. Which in return would increase the over-all business performance of ComBank. These practices are not legally bound. But following these practices will give the company an cutting-advantage in all aspects of business.

Here are some of the important HR Practices or you can call it the “BEST Practices” we follow at the HR department.
