when I graduated from high school and wanted to go to university, my goal was to get a score from 290 to 300 on the entrance exam of the university that would allow me to select the top major of my favorite university and I was well prepared till the year I graduated from high school I took a few preparation exams I did well on those exams. I couldn't accomplish my goal was that I didn't prioritize my goal and didn't do time management on the year of my graduation, that year my family decided to move to another city and the preparation was on me and it took time, and I had less concentration on studies and I left behind.
During the covid 19 pandemic when the cities went luck down, I decided to learn Bahasa Indonesia during the luck down I found books on the internet and download the books set my short goal to study, write and watch Bahasa Indonesia videos on the internet, the reason I reached this goal was that firstly it was a good amusement for me those days and the joy of being able to speak new language drove me to learn Indonesian.
Everyone in life has goals, some can follow their goals some people can’t follow their goals therefore effective goal setting helps us to achieve our goals, we must have effective goal setting
to succeed in life and create the best life possible, effective goal setting navigate us to step closer to our goals, according to the coach positive performance effective goal setting gives us the sense of
- Clarity: A lot is going on in our life we will be drifting from one activity to another without goal setting, goal setting gives us clarity about what we want in life and we can focus on those activities more.
- Responsibility: effective goal setting makes us responsible in our life, a responsible people take the responsibility for every step and action in their life, work toward them and evaluate the ways how to achieve their goals.
- Action: When we set our goal well. It is clear to us where we want to go and the direction to reach there by effective goal setting we take action to determine and identify ways to achieve that.
- Focus: Time is our most precious resource, many things can quickly fill up our time when we set goals, and we can focus on the specific tasks that we determined, we already evaluate how to achieve that goal and the value of that goal, effective goal setting improve our focus that which task is our priority and help us to say no to the tasks that are not a priority.
The characteristic of good goal setting according to college success is that
- Goal should be realistic: you should consider your ability and strengths toward your goal, and don’t be a daydreamer.
- Goal should be specific: don’t generalize about your goal be specific like I will finish this course.
